Murder Suspect Was Living In Schulenburg

The Navasota murder suspect arrested in Schulenburg last week had been living in Schulenburg, according to Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek.

Willie Poldo, 44, was arrested on Nov. 30 in Schulenburg. Brenek said Navasota Police contacted Schulenburg Police Sgt. Tobey McFadden last Tuesday and told him that Poldo was wanted for murder and that they believed he was living in Schulenburg. Brenek said McFadden observed Poldo while on patrol and detained him without incident.

Navasota Police then came to Schulenburg and took custody of Poldo. Brenek said Poldo had been living with a woman at the Falcon View Apartments, located north of Interstate 10 on US 77.

According to the Navasota Examiner newspaper, 44-yearold Willie Poldo is suspected of murdering 24-year-old Frederick Santee of Washington County on the night of Nov. 18 in Navasota. Poldo evaded capture for nearly two weeks.

Santee’s killing sparked off a series of shootings in Navasota over the next several days, the Examiner reported. There were no reported injuries from those shootings, although at least one residence was shot multiple times.

Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Dan Mueller magistrated Poldo following the arrest. Mueller set Poldo’s bond at $200,000. Poldo was transported back to Navasota and was booked into the Grimes County Jail for the murder warrant.
