Murder Suspect Arrested

The United States Marshall’s Lone Star Fugitive Task Force captured murder suspect Charles Lee Tillman Jr. in Kileen on Tuesday, Nov 9.

Tillman was wanted for the murder of David Harrison Jr. in La Grange, which occurred on May 30. La Grange Police Department obtained a warrant for Tillman’s arrest on June 4. He evaded arrest for more than five months.

La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath said Fayette County Crime Stoppers recently received a tip that led to the arrest. Fayette County Crimestoppers and Texas Crime Stoppers were offering rewards totaling $16,000 for information leading to Tillman’s arrest. Gilbreath said the Marshall’s Service task force apprehended Tillman “at a known associate’s residence” in Killeen without incident.

In addition to the murder warrant, Tillman was wanted for violating his parole. Tillman was previously convicted of manufacture or deliver of a controlled substance and had been sentenced to 14 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

As of Wednesday, Nov. 10, Tillman was being held at the Bell County Jail in Belton on a $250,000 bond for the murder charge, however he was also being held without bond for the parole violation. Gilbreath wished to recognize the Texas Rangers, the U.S. Marshall’s Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in tracking down and arresting Tillman.
