Muldoon Residents Getting Out and About
Out and About
Pam Sheffield enjoyed having her family come in to celebrate her grandson Benjamin Holland’s birthday. Also coming out to celebrate were Pam’s other daughter and son in law, Dawson and Allison Williford of Cypress along with their two dogs, Zeppy and Willie. Birthday boy Benjamin, along with his sister Hayley and their parents Grey and Sarah Holland, went out to the country. Tagging along to enjoy the trip and celebrate his boy’s birthday was Benjamin’s dog Joey. Ben celebrated his 7th birthday with lots of balloons and decorations. Dawson and Grey took Benjamin to La Grange for a little shopping while the girls got everything ready for the party. They planned out a scavenger hunt for Ben in order for him to find his presents one by one. Then there was a special meal of McDonald’s hamburgers and french fries, which is the birthday boy’s favorite meal, topped off with a special Oreo cake made by Sarah. Everyone had a great time. While out in the country they also all enjoyed riding the ATV and the go-cart before the rain came.
Kathy and Frank Chlumsky had their grandsons Conner and Hunter Dong start their spring break out in Muldoon. They came out to spend a few days with Grandpa Frank tending to the livestock, building an awesome fort, and playing with the three dogs. Time with Grandma Kathy was spent finishing a puzzle, going on a scavenger hunt along with reading and doing some crafts. Also included on their time in the country was a trip to Dairy Queen before going back with their mom and dad for some fishing trips around Texas.
Pam and Ron Knotts now that the weather has finally gotten better have been planning a few day trips to see some sights. They recently had a free afternoon and took a drive up toward Belton, hitting some areas west of I-35 that they had not traveled before. The area northwest of Austin, changes quickly to Hill Country terrain, with scrub oaks and outcropping of rock. Along the way they stopped at a junk shop and picked up an old tractor seat to turn in to a stool. Heading back toward home about dinner time they stopped at a familiar restaurant in downtown Belton that they enjoy eating at. Gin on Bolton Creek is housed in an old cotton gin building and has indoor seating and a dining patio overlooking Bolton Creek. The food is good Texas fare and always a treat when they are traveling in the area.
Weather
Muldoon has seen a little rain recently. Around a half inch total fell in some spots. The main weather has been some really strong winds recently. The winds have made working outside in the gardens tough, but early mornings have been fairly quiet.
Temperatures have been mild and very spring like and very much welcomed after all the miserable cold weather a few weeks ago. The combination of mild temps and a little moisture has cued the wildflowers to begin come out. Small patches have started to show up and there is promise of a wonderful display of color in a few weeks.
Spring Break
Many of the local kids have had spring break this last week. This has caused a change in the traffic in the area. Watch out as they go back to school and the school buses begin to roll again. Also watch out for the local high school drivers hurrying to get to class.
