Out and About
Nancie Blair traveled last week to see her granddaughter Valarie and great granddaughter Candence. Nancie reports that the baby is growing and has started teething already!
Darrell and Dana Kulak have been busy over the last couple weekends. They have been going down to Hungerford to showers for friends. One weekend was a wedding shower and the next weekend was a baby shower. While in Hungerford they had to attend to some repair work on the property they still own there.
Devon Boehnke was thrilled to have his son Jeremy Wells come to visit over the weekend. Together the two men took on a few tasks that Devon had been avoiding, but with Jeremy’s help he managed to make headway.
James and I traveled to College Station on Sunday afternoon to attend the TEEX annual Fire School Trade show at Reed Arena. It is where vendors of fire equipment come and display their wares for all the fire fighters to come and see prior to the beginning of Fire School. There were lots of pretty shiny fire trucks to look at. Included in this year’s trade show was Fayette County’s soon to be newest ambulance on display. That was a fun find as we checked out the equipment.
Cows Out
This past week there were some loose cattle on Boehnke Road. This caused lots of confusion as to whom they belong to. After an extensive phone search of lots of neighbors the owners of the cattle were located. This is a good reason to know your neighbors, especially if you own any cattle. These were branded, but it took quite a number of calls to be made for anyone to identify who the brand belonged to.
Rain
This past week has been dry and hot, typical July weather we have seen in the past. Until this point, the month of July, and the summer in general, has been wet and cooler than what is normally experienced in this area. Temperatures have warmed up with the humidity running high making it feel a lot warmer than the thermometer is reading. Please keep hydrated and drink lots of water. Rain is once again in the forecast for the next upcoming week.
As it is drying out this does increase the fire danger. It does not take much to set off a fire, so please take care when out and about. A dragging piece of metal can do a lot of damage, be cause all it takes is a little spark.
The drier weather has also got the hay makers out baling as fast as they can. Prior to this dry spell it was hard to cut, dry and bale prior to a shower falling.
Anniversary/Birthday
Happy Anniversary to Clay and Jennifer Rightmer and on the same day Happy Birthday to their daughter Lane Rightmer, it will be a week of celebration at the Rightmer’s home.
