Muldoon Museum Opens Oct. 3 for History Exhibits
The first weekend of the month is the time to stop by the Muldoon Museum in downtown Muldoon. The Muldoon Museum is going to be open on this Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a,m.-1 p.m. Now is a great time to stop in and check out the wonderful exhibits of Muldoon history.
For the railroad buffs, this is a prime chance to see some wonderful items from Muldoon’s rail history. There are all kinds of little items like the hooks used to catch the mailbags and other unique items from the deep rail history of Muldoon.
For those who are military buffs, there is an exhibit honoring those who served from the Muldoon area. And for those who just like old stuff, there are all kinds of neat items tucked all around the museum to be found and admired. Stop by and say “hi” to those who are there to try and answer your curious questions.
Out and About
Frank and Kathy Chlumsky’s daughter, Summer Smith, came for the day with the grandkids, Olivia and Marcus. It was a busy day. After lunch with Kathy’s famous Mac-n-cheese (according to Marcus) the kids were busy outside. They fed the donkeys, horses and cattle. They both got to spend time driving around the pastures and checking out the hay barn and pumpkin patch. It was a great visit and the Chlumsky’s cannot wait for the next visit.
James and I went to Corpus Christi last week for an engineering conference. We got to stay with Kim (Lueders) Bonewald for few days in the beautiful weather.
Nancie and Billy Blair attended the Lutherhill Champagne and S’mores Annual Gala in the Woodlands. This was an annual fundraiser for a very worthy cause. They enjoyed an evening of fun, food, drink and music. They got to participate in a both silent and a live auction making the evening very fun.
Fall Festival
It is time. Yes, it is finally time for the 4th Annual Stray Gathering Cowboy Church Fall Round Up on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Bring your whole family out to FM 609 and Valenta Road and see what all the hard work and talk has been about. Enter off FM 609 at the marked entrance and bring the whole family.
There will be pony rides, hay rides, games, and so much more. Vendors will be there to offer some fun fall themed items. There will be a cake walk, and so much more. Hungry? Don’t worry. There will be a chuckwagon serving up some delicious food all for a freewill donation.
There also will be chances available for the heifer and gun drawing. All for just $20. See any of the SG2C members for raffle tickets. What a fun opportunity to stop in and see what all that SG2C has been doing preparing their new property at 6240 FM 609. For more information just call (512) 237-8908.
Church News
A new Ladies’ Bible study will be starting on Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. “Nothing is Impossible with God” is the title of this new study and open to all the area ladies wishing to learn more about the Bible and maybe connect to some other women in the community. This all will be taking place at the Stray Gathering Cowboy Church just behind the park.
The SG2C meet every Sunday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. with coffee, doughnuts and fellowship. Stop in any Sunday and check them out.
Illness in Area
Check in on your neighbors. There is a bout of the flu making the rounds. Be sure to wash your hands and pay attention if anyone is coughing around you. Stay well, it is still early in the season for the flu to be making the rounds.
Traffic
There has been lots of dump trucks hauling dirt in the area. Please be extra careful driving in and around Muldoon. There is some oilfield activity and the trucks are flying up and down the roads.
