Storms

Muldoon experienced some stormy weather on the last Friday of October. Strong thunderstorms blew through the area, leaving lots of damage in its path. Limbs and trees were blown down. Roofs lost shingles. Lots of stuff was blown around. Trees fell on fences and lots of damage was done all around the area. Reports of gusts up to 57 mph explains a lot of the damage. Along with the winds there was some much-needed rain. Over an inch fell, bringing some relief to the very dry area.

Tuesday evening saw a cold front come through and brought another third of an inch to the area. Along with the moisture, the temperature cooled off. The promise of fall weather has finally arrived to the area.

Clay and Turkey Shoot

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is sponsoring a Clay and Turkey Shoot on Saturday, Nov. 8 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Swenson Ranch at 1329 South Old Smithville Road. The Turkey Shoot will be $5 shot per round; the Clay Target Shoot $5 per person per round. The round winners in each round will go to the “Shoot Off.” Championship buckles will be awarded to the winners. Only bird shot will be allowed and shooters will need to supply their own ammo. This could be a lot of fun for those who like shooting sports. For more information contact Monty at (512) 575-0534 or Tommy at (512) 636-5821 for more information.

Out and About

Debra and John Schwartzenburg enjoyed a visit from Debra’s sister, Julia Speed. Julia came in from Houston to spend a little time in Muldoon and decompress from life in Houston.

Lane Rightmer came home to Muldoon for a little time in the country since she now is living closer. She just needed to check on everyone in the country.

James and I attended the Brinkley Meet Up #002 in Fredericksburg. The meet up was a gathering of Brinkley RV owners put on by Brinkley. We got to meet other Brinkley owners. There were over 100 rigs, from all over the country, many were full time RVers, a few were YouTubers, but everyone was really nice and pulled us newbies right along the RV travel life. There were a whole host of activities on the agenda including a meet and greet with two of the owners of the company and everyone was encouraged to ask questions, make suggestions and voice their issues or suggestions. A trip over to The Preserve in Stonewall was the surprise activity on Thursday morning. This gave everyone a chance to learn about and pet elephants and other interesting animals. The long weekend was filled with all kinds of activities including going to the Fredericksburg Food and Wine Festival. We made lots of new friends and learned so much including how to survive a storm in an RV.
