MS 150 Will Criss-Cross and Overnight in Fayette This Weekend
More than 6,000 bicyclists will converge in La Grange this Saturday, April 29, for the Texas MS 150.
Motorists should be on the lookout for cyclists this weekend around La Grange and the northern parts of Fayette County.
La Grange serves as a half-way overnight stop for the roughly 150-mile bike ride, which raises money to find a cure for multiple sclerosis (MS). Riders will depart from multiple starting points in the Austin and Houston areas early on Saturday morning. They will begin arriving at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange Saturday afternoon.
On Saturday, The route from Houston takes riders into Fayette County on SH 159. They will pass through Willow Springs and Fayetteville. The Houston-to-La Grange route continues on FM 2981 and FM 2145. They will turn on US 77 south and travel past St. Mark’s Medical Center before turning into the Fairgrounds.
The route from Austin begins at the Capitol. It enters Fayette County on FM 153, passing through Winchester. The riders will continue on FM 153 to US 77, where they will turn south toward La Grange.
On Sunday, the riders will depart the Fairgrounds starting at 6:45 a.m. toward the finish line at Kyle Field in College Station. They will have several route options: through Waldeck and Carmine via FM 2145, or through Round Top via FM 159/237. Riders will also have the option of starting Day Two in Burton after a bus trip.
