Motorcycle Hit, LG Driver Air-Lifted
A motorcycle driver took a helicopter ride after a crash near the intersection of Travis St. and Lester St. in La Grange last Friday.
The crash happened around 5:28 p.m. A report from the La Grange Police Department said 63-year-old Christopher Samuel Green of Austin was driving west on Travis Street in a silver 2018 Chevy Equinox. Jacob Ryan Wilkerson, 30 of La Grange, was driving east on Travis on a black 2016 Kawasaki ZR800 motorcycle. Both vehicles were in the inside lane.
The report said the Chevy made a left turn on to Lester Street. Wilkerson attempted evasive action on the motorcycle, turning to the right. The Chevy struck the motorcycle in the intersection of Travis and Lester. Wilkerson went airborne. He flew about 45 feet and landed in the City Cemetery. Wilkerson was wearing a helmet.
Wilkerson suffered serious injuries. Fayette County EMS transported him to the helicopter pad at St. Mark’s Hospital. Air Evac Lifeteam flew him to Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin, where he underwent treatment.
La Grange Patrolman John Wostarek investigated the accident. Wostarek issued Green a citation for turning when unsafe.
