Moreau Joins Race For Judge
The race for Fayette County Judge now has four Republican candidates.
Craig Moreau filed paperwork to run for County Judge in the Republican Primary Election on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 25, according to Fayette County Republican Party Chairman Michael Schlabach. Moreau served as Fayette County Emergency Management Coordinator under former County Judge Joe Weber. He ran for County Judge in 2022 and lost to Mueller in the Republican runoff. Mueller, on his first day in office, dismissed Moreau as Emergency Management Coordinator. Moreau is currently serving probation for a 10-year deferred sentence he accepted on Aug. 13 of this year when he pleaded guilty to carrying a gun inside a bar, a felony offense. The case stemmed from a shooting at the Pop’z Star Bar in La Grange on July 28 in which he accidentally shot himself and a woman inside the bar. He joins three other Republicans running for County Judge: Josh Vandever, the current Fayette County EMS DIrector; Josh Homan, a Flatonia city councilman and veteran U.S. Army helicopter pilot; and William Bernsen, a land surveyor The deadline to file for primary elections is Dec. 8. The primary elections take place on March 3.
