Bilingual/ESL Report
Director of Federal Programs, Nicole Ramirez gave her annual report on the bilingual/ESL program at Monday night’s board meeting. The report is using data from the 2020-2021 school year. There were 317 students served in the district. There are bilingual certified teachers in prek–2nd grade. The district continues to look for bilingual certified teachers in the other grades. ESL (English as a Second Language) is offered at all grade levels.
Appraisal District Board
Dudley Piland has been approved to serve another two-year term on the Fayette County Appraisal District. The new term will be from Jan. 1, 2022 to Dec. 31, 2023.
Threat Assessment Team
Public school districts are required to implement a threat assessment team each year. The purpose of the threat assessment team is to provide a proactive, evidence-based approach for identifying individuals who may pose a threat and for providing interventions before a violent incident occurs. Members of the team include: Diana Stevens, Molly Adams, Amber Barber, Nathan Truex, Regina Walker, Dawn Givan, Katie Gross, LaDonna Boyd, Stacy Eilers, Bill Wagner, Sharon Muzny, Travis Anderson, Curtis Zwahr, Rob Emmons, David Bennett, Tracy Knapik and Angie Eichler.
COVID Leave
The board approved a resolution for extending leave to all qualifying employees due to required quarantine for a positive COVID-19 test for themselves or a dependent child through the end of the 2021-2022 school year. This resolution would allow employees eight days of additional leave due to COVID-19. This leave will be retroactive to July 1, 2021 to cover employees who have had to quarantine since returning for the 2021-2022 school year.
Bid for Property Unsold
La Grange ISD received bids for Cause 3380: (Account Number: 28524, Monument Hill Lot 11, Section 8.) It had an appraised value of $4,130 and the bid from Ronald Vinson that was accepted was for $4,130.
Administrative Reports
Superintendent Bill Wagner reported that there are 1870 students currently enrolled in LGISD. The attendance rate is sitting at 92.96%.
Assistant Superintendent Stacy Eilers told the board that there are 43 students currently enrolled in the Little Leps after school program. They can take up to two more with the current staffing. She stated that the program is fully staffed with a director and two other adults and four high school students. She also stated that the local Head Start program will begin this week. There are 33 students enrolled in that program with six adults staffing it.
Director of Operations Sharon Muzny stated the maintenance team will be trained in maintaining the new turf field.
