More Than $30,000 in Stolen Items Found Inside Crates at Truck Stop
On January 15 at approximately 7:35 p.m. Schulenburg Police Sergeant Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the Pilot Travel Center in reference to stolen property (crates). Sgt. McFadden was notified by Fiat-Chrysler that a semi-truck containing the stolen items may be parked at Pilot.
Sgt. McFadden began investigating and spoke to various truck drivers and checked their driver logs. Sgt. McFadden was able to locate the truck with the stolen goods. The crates near the back of the trailer had been spray-painted and the serial numbers removed.
Sgt. McFadden escorted the truck driver to the Schulenburg City Yard where City Employees assisted with the unloading of the crates. Sgt. McFadden was able to locate some of the crates that still had the serial number on them in the front of the trailer.
Fiat-Chrysler confirmed the serial number on the stolen crates.
The stolen crates are valued over $30,000.
Sgt. McFadden arrested the Driver for Theft of Property grater than $30,000 but less than $150,000.
The semi truck and trailer were seized and the driver was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center in La Grange Texas for booking.
