Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine to Host Blood Drive Jan. 23

A blood drive will be held at Martin Luther Lutheran Church on Sunday, Jan. 23 from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. You can make an appointment by contacting khardin@giveblood.org or by logging into your established Digital Donor account. There continues to be a great need for whole blood and plasma, so please consider giving the gift of life.

RT-C School News

Round Top-Carmine ISD students started their second semester on Jan. 6.

High school girls and boys varsity basketball teams play at Dime Box Jan. 11 at 5 p.m. They host Buckholts Jan. 14 also at 5 p.m.

Jr. High girls and boys will participate in the Dime Box tournament Jan. 15.

Turkey Stew Drive-Thru

Waldeck Lutheran Church is sponsoring a drive-thru homemade turkey stew on Sunday, Jan. 23 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Bring your own pot or glass container, no plastic please. For tickets call or text (979) 212-1354. Price is $20 for a half gallon or $30 for a gallon.

Carmine Cemetery Association

The Carmine Cemetery Association has scheduled their annual meeting for Sunday, Jan. 30 in the MLLC Mission and Ministry Building following the worship service. Members are encouraged to attend.

Carmine VFD

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night will be Jan. 13.

If you plan a controlled burn, contact the Fayette County Sheriff’s office at (979) 968-5856 to give them your location, name, and phone number. In Washington County contact the nonemergency number at (979) 277-7373. Remember to burn only on calm days with no wind.

MLLC News

Confirmation class begins the New Year with class on Jan. 12 at 4:15 p.m.

Women of the ELCA General Unit meeting is Thursday at 1 p.m., followed by the Rebekah Group meeting at 2 p.m.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion observing the Second Sunday after Epiphany is at 10 a.m. The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

The congregational annual meeting follows worship.

Domino Party is Monday at 1 p.m.

Recycling Trailer

The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.

Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean #1 and #2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic) all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans.

The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.

Visitors’ Center

Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
