Man Dies in Holman Gravel Pit Accident

A man died in an accident at a gravel pit on Seydlar Road in southeast Fayette County in the Holman area on Wednesday morning, Oct. 20.

Fayette County EMS Director Josh Vandever said the man was deceased when medics arrived.

Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Charles Zapalac conducted the inquest. Zapalac said he was notified around the death around 10 a.m.

Zapalac said the man’s name was being withheld pending notification of family. The approximately 40-year-old man was working on a machine when the accident happened, Zapalac said.

The machine’s bucket hit the man in the head. Zapalac said the man died from blunt force trauma.
