Man Cited After Fight at Leps Football Game

A family dispute ended in an assault charge at the La Grange football game last Friday.

According to a report from La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath, the episode happened on Sept. 3 around 10 p.m. at Leopard Stadium, after the football game ended. He said a 50-year-old man from La Grange got into an argument with the boyfriend of his ex-wife over how the boyfriend was treating the former couple’s children.

Gilbreath said the ex-husband punched the boyfriend in the face, injuring the man’s lip. Police were called, and La Grange Patrolman Kevin Currington responded. Police did not arrest the suspect, but they issued him a citation for simple assault, a class C misdemeanor.

Gilbreath said the victim did not require medical treatment.
