Man Arrested for Trepassing at Park Prairie Park

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies for the month of January.

Deputy Ben Wilson investigated an inquest at a residence off of West Point Loop. The death was of natural causes. Wilson also responded to a welfare check of an elderly male in the Clear Lake Pines area. The elderly male was located in the residence and was unable to get up off the floor. Medics provided care and transported the male to St. Mark’s Hospital.

Deputy Marc Bennett stopped a driver of a vehicle on FM 609 that was reported to be involved in a hit and run accident at the Amigo’s Truck Stop in Flatonia. Investigation resulted in the female driver of the vehicle being arrested for possession of a controlled substance and an outstanding warrant out of Houston. Bennett also took a forgery report where a sibling was forging checks on his elderly father’s account.

Deputy Ryan Meagher responded to a disturbance at a residence off of Old Plum Highway between a father and son. The disturbance was physical and the father was arrested for assault family violence. Meagher also investigated an inquest at a residence off of Chapparal Road. The death was ruled of natural causes.

Deputy Terry Guentert took a report of a stolen vehicle from a motorist who stated her car had broken down on the interstate and when she returned at a later date the vehicle was missing.

Deputy A.J. Gonzales responded to the Flatonia R.V. Park for damage to property incident. Gonzales was able to identify the responsible party and the incident was resolved. Gonzales also responded to a structure fire of a home off of Plum Acres Lane. The home was a complete loss and no casualties or injuries were sustained.

Deputy Herman Olvera responded to property off of Menken Road for a criminal trespass. The suspect in this case was issued a criminal trespass warning. Olvera also served an arrest warrant on a male subject in the Schulenburg area for a burglary of a building charge.

Deputy Rick Martell responded to an abandoned vehicle on US Hwy 290 near Carmine. The vehicle was impounded for safe keeping until an owner could be notified. Martell also took a fraud report where a citizen ordered a television online and it was never delivered.

Deputy Kenn Kretz responded to a dangerous driver call on Interstate 10 near Flatonia. The vehicle was located and the driver was arrested for reckless driving.

Deputy Joe Gonzales responded to a disturbance at a residence on Zilss Road in the Winchester area. The disturbance was verbal and all parties were separated for the day. Gonzales also investigated an incident where a person was bit by a dog. The patient was at the Columbus Hospital getting treatment. The dog which bit the patient was sent off for rabies testing.

Deputy Michael Krenek stopped the driver of a vehicle in the Ellinger area for a traffic violation. The investigation resulted in the driver being charged with possession of marijuana. Krenek also responded to the Park Prairie Park for a person trespassing after hours. The male was arrested and charged with trespassing.

Deputy Tammy McCleney stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding on US Hwy. 90 between Schulenburg and Flatonia. After a short pursuit the vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested for DWI. McCleney also stopped the driver of a vehicle on US Hwy. 77 near Janda Lane for speeding. The driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of marijuana and was arrested.

Deputy Jarred Michalec responded to the Waldeck area for a disturbance. A male on scene was arrested for assault. Michalec also observed the driver of a vehicle in the La Grange area driving erratically. The driver of the vehicle was stopped and found to be intoxicated and he was arrested.

Deputy Seth Nagel towed an abandoned vehicle from the 668 mile marker on Interstate 10.

Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 42 individuals for the month of January and transported two individuals to the Texas Department of Corrections Facilities to begin serving time for crimes committed in Fayette County.
