Lynnwood Home Suffers Major Damage in Fire

A home on Cynthia Ln. in La Grange’s Lynnwood neighborhood could be a total loss after a fire Monday evening.

A house at 225 E. Cynthia Ln. in La Grange’s Lynnwood neighborhood suffered major damage in a fire Monday evening, July 13.

La Grange Fire Chief Frank Menefee said the call came in shortly before 6 p.m. Menefee said the residents reported smoke coming from their clothes dryer in the utility room. The residents got out of the house unharmed.

Menefee said the fire consumed much of the utility room, garage and attic. Part of the roof collapsed in the fire.

One of the residents filled their car with gas that afternoon, and it was parked in the garage. It, too, caught fire. Firefighters pulled the car out of the garage and extinguished it in the driveway. The rest of the house suffered extensive smoke and water damage.

Menefee called for assistance from the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department. The two departments spent about two hours fighting the fire. They left the scene around 7:50 p.m. Menefee said the house would likely be a total loss.
