Local Man Flees from Officers With Toddler in the Car
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Sunday, April 25 the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call for assistance from Bastrop County with a pursuit that was entering Fayette County on FM 153, heading towards Winchester. Initial reports from Bastrop County were that the driver was involved in a disturbance, was possibly intoxicated, and had active warrants out of Hays County for Robbery and Assault Family Violence. Subsequent reports indicated that there was a toddler in the vehicle as well.
Fayette County Deputies Jared Michalec, Orlando Buitron, and Herman Olvera assisted Bastrop County in the pursuit, which ended at a residence in the Clear Lake Pines Subdivision, near Winchester. The suspect, identified as 28 year old Christian Alvarez, of La Grange, was arrested and relinquished to the custody of the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office. Further charges are pending against a passenger in the vehicle at this time in Fayette County. The toddler was uninjured in the ordeal.
