Lightening Strike Fire Rekindles Days Later

Lightening Strike Fire Rekindles Days Later

La Grange Firefighter Colton Whitaker and Fire Chief Frank Menefee use rakes to break apart a burning bale of corn stubble on Old Plum Highway Wednesday morning. The fire was in a corn field near the corner of Old Plum Highway and Egypt Road. Menefee said bale originally caught fire last Friday after a storm passed over the area. He said a lightning bolt started the fire. Firefighters responded last Friday and thought they put out the fire. It apparently rekindled on Wednesday during strong winds. Photo by Andy Behlen
