LGPD Responds to Several Animal Complaints
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of March 28 through April 4.
Accident
On April 2, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr responded to a minor accident at the intersection of E. Fannin and N. Madison. Officer took information.
On April 3, Sgt. Travis Anderson responded to a hit and run accident in the parking lot in the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business.
Animal Complaint
On March 30, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Rosenberg for a snake. Neighbor killed the snake before officer’s arrival.
On March 30, Animal Control Officer Dean Ahlschlager picked up a dog in the 700 block of E. Fannin and put in quarantine due to a bite.
On March 30, Currington met subjects at the animal shelter in the 200 block of Svoboda Lane who had found a dog at the fairgrounds. The animal was placed inside the kennel.
On March 31, Patrolman Justin Koehne responded to the 900 block of Mode Lane for a dog running at large in the park. Owner was contacted and the dog was returned.
On April 1, Ahlschlager put a cow back in pasture in the 1000 block of N. Horton.
On April 2, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 400 block of S. Ellinger where caller stated that his neighbor’s dogs were barking and wouldn’t stop. Officer spoke to dog owner and he stated that they aren’t used to being outside and he would attempt to keep them quiet.
On April 2, Anderson received a call in regard to a dog bite that occurred in the 400 block of E. Vine.
On April 3, Patrolman David Mohr received a call of an aggressive dog in the 1400 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Officer met with complainant.
Burglary
On April 2, Mohr received a call of a burglary of a building in the 1500 block Highway 159. Officer took information.
Business Check
On April 4, Mohr initiated a business check in the 1500 block of W. State Highway 71 Business and found the business to be unsecure with an open door at the rear of the business. Officer secured the area and contacted the night manager to secure the door.
Citizen Assist
On March 28, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 100 block of Charles for a citizen assist.
On March 28, Meinardus was dispatched to the 100 block of Charles St. where complainant stated that her car alarm kept going off and strange incidents were occurring around her home. Officer gathered information.
Disturbance
On March 28, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell was dispatched to the 200 block of S. Ellinger in regard to a disturbance.
Fraud
On March 29, Zwahr spoke with a caller in regard to unemployment fraud in the 200 block of Svoboda.
Loitering
On April 1, Wostarek was dispatched to the 1900 block of Highway 71 Business in regard to several subjects that were loitering. Officer arrived on location and spoke with the subjects. Subjects then left after speaking with officer.
Narcotics Complaint
On March 28, Maxwell was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Travis in regard to a narcotics complaint.
On April 2, Anderson received a call in regard to a narcotics complaint in the 400 block of N. Vail.
Parking Violation
On March 28, Meinardus responded to the 1900 block of Highway 159 where caller stated that people were parking on his property and parking on the roadway and blocking his driveway. Officer advised deputies of the problem and attempted to patrol area more regularly.
Possession
On March 30, Zwahr performed a traffic stop in the 500 block of E. Eblin. Subject was arrested for possession.
Reckless Driving
On April 2, Zwahr searched the area in the 1700 block of Highway 71 for a reckless driver. Driver was out of the vehicle upon officer’s arrival.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On March 29, Currington was dispatched to the 800 block of E. Guadalupe for subjects going into an abandoned house. Officer checked the house but no one was located.
On March 29, Currington was dispatched to the 100 block of S. Brown for subjects riding dirt bikes on location. Officer checked the area but subjects were gone.
On March 29, Mohr received a call of a suspicious person in the 400 block of W. Lafayette. Officer arrived and identified two subjects.
On March 30, Mohr received a call of a suspicious vehicle located in the 200 block of W. Guadalupe. Officer located the vehicle and it was parked at a house and the people were working on it.
On March 30, Mohr received a call of a suspicious person in the 2400 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Officer arrived and found the subject and they were waiting on the store to open.
On April 2, Mohr received a call of a suspicious person in the 200 block of E. Travis. The property manager asked to have the person leave the property.
On April 3, Anderson conducted a stop on a suspicious subject on an electric bicycle in the 200 block of S. College. The subject had been riding in the grass between the police department and the church when he first saw him.
Traffic Hazard
On April 3, Anderson observed two vehicles stopped in the roadway in the 800 block of E. Travis and it appeared to be a possible accident. Officer stopped behind the vehicles with the emergency lights activated for safety. Officer then found that the second vehicle had stopped to assist the first with reattaching a trailer that had come loose. Officer remained at the location until the trailer was reattached and the roadway was cleared.
Theft
On April 1, Patrolman Brian Adams responded to the 1800 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for information regarding a theft.
Trespassing
On March 29, Anderson received a call for a neighbor trespassing on complainant’s property in the 900 block of E. Camp.
Welfare Check
On March 29, Wostarek was dispatched to the 900 block of S. Washington in regard to a welfare check. Officer arrived on location and spoke with a female subject that stated everything was fine.
