LGPD Incidents: Political Meeting Disrupted, Donation Jar Stolen

La Grange Police responded to a disturbance at a meeting of the Fayette County Republican Women last Thursday night, Aug. 19. The group was holding a meeting at the La Grange City Hall Council Chambers that night. Police Chief David Gilbreath said attendees reported that a man walked in and disturbed the meeting. Police Officer Justin Koehne responded, but the man had already left.

Gilbreath said officers later arrested the man at an unrelated call after he made a terroristic threat. Gilbreath identified the man arrested as Mitchell Williams of La Grange.

The following day, Aug. 20, La Grange Police responded to a call at the Gardenia E. Jannsen Animal Shelter. Gilbreath said the suspect was a woman who had been previously arrested. During the arrest, her dog was impounded at the animal shelter. Upon her release from jail, the woman went to the animal shelter to pick up her dog. While she was leaving with her dog, Gilbreath said, the woman took a donation jar from the counter. The woman was still at the shelter when Officer Kevin Currington responded. The woman returned the donation jar. Currington issued her a criminal trespass warning.
