LGPD Busy During Winter Storm
City of La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Feb. 14-21.
Animal Complaint
On Feb. 14, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 400 block of E. Vine for a dog left in the back yard in the cold. Officer advised the homeowner who brought the dog inside.
On Feb. 14, Meinardus responded to the 700 block of N. Heintze for a dog in the cold. The homeowner brought the dog inside.
On Feb. 14, Patrolman Justin Koehne spoke with complainant in the 700 block of N. Eckel about an animal complaint.
On Feb. 15, Patrolman David Mohr received a call of a dog out in the cold all day. Officer met with the homeowner in the 900 block of N. Jackson and they were going to bring the dog in for the night.
On Feb. 15, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr spoke with a caller in regard to their dogs in the 300 block of N. Riverview.
On Feb. 16, Zwahr returned two loose dogs back to their owner in the 500 block of N. Madison.
On Feb. 17, Meinardus responded to the 900 block of N. Jefferson where caller stated that she believed that a dog was left outside in inclement weather. Officer checked on the animal and spoke to the owner who brought the dog inside.
Alarm
On Feb. 17, Mohr received a call of an alarm with a front glass break in the 2000 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Officer found the alarm had malfunctioned.
On Feb. 19, Zwahr responded to a front door alarm in the 700 block of S. Madison. Officer spoke with resident who stated it was accidentally set off.
Accident
On Feb. 14, Patrolman Cari Haman responded to a two-vehicle accident in the parking lot of Walmart in the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business.
On Feb. 20, Sgt. Travis Anderson viewed a two-vehicle minor accident in the 2400 block of W. State Highway 71 Business.
Agency Assist
On Feb. 15, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to an agency assist for EMS in the 700 block of E. Fannin. Officer gained entry and helped an elderly subject.
On Feb. 15, Mohr received a call to assist EMS with a subject that had been involved in an altercation in the 100 block of E. Fannin. Officer arrived and assisted EMS with the call.
On Feb. 15, Anderson responded to the intersection of S. Jefferson and E. Eblin to block traffic while DPS and County worked a multi-vehicle accident on the bluff. TxDOT arrived and shut roadway down.
Civil Matter
On Feb. 15, Currington was dispatched to the 900 block of E. Pearl for a civil matter. Officer advised subjects of their options.
On Feb. 16, Currington was dispatched to the 200 block of S. Ellinger for a civil matter. Subjects were advised of their civil options.
On Feb. 19, Haman spoke with an individual at One St. Mark’s Place about a civil matter.
On Feb. 20, Zwahr spoke with an employee in regard to a civil matter in the 1900 block of W. Travis.
Citizen Assist
On Feb. 14, Koehne gave a subject who was involved in an accident a courtesy ride from One St. Mark’s Place to a local motel.
On Feb. 15, Patrolman John Wostarek gave a courtesy ride to an individual from One St. Marks Place emergency room to a local motel.
On Feb. 16, Patrolman Brian Adams responded to the 600 block of S. Ellinger where complainant stated that unknown persons rode ATVs on vacant property next door causing tracks in the snow. Complainant wanted it documented that he was in no way involved in this should the landowner complain.
On Feb. 16, Currington responded to the 2200 block of W. State Highway 71 Bypass to look for a wallet a subject might have left on a gas pump. Officer checked the pump and did not find the wallet and the officer was advised the complainant found the wallet and did not leave it on top of the gas pump after all.
On Feb. 16, Anderson received a call to contact an individual in the 300 block of N. Horton in regard to a citizen assist.
On Feb. 17, Haman assisted two subjects in the 1800 block of W. State Highway 71 Business that were stranded and needed to get back to their vehicle at St. Mark’s Hospital.
On Feb. 19, Adams responded to the 1100 block of N Jefferson where complainant stated that his wife had passed sway and he worried that his stepdaughter would come to the residence. Complainant advised she does not live there and is not welcome. Officer informed him to not let her in and call the police if she shows up.
On Feb. 20, Anderson spoke with complainant in regard to her being locked out of the location in the 400 block of S. Madison.
On Feb. 20, Mohr received a call from an emergency room doctor that needed a roadside assist at One St. Mark’s Place.
Family Violence
On Feb. 15, Currington was dispatched to the 600 block of N. College for a disturbance. Officer took information and parties were separated for the night.
On Feb. 18, Haman responded to the 500 block of W. Lowerline to a suicidal subject. Subject was located and was found not suicidal. Information was received about an incident that took place prior to officer’s arrival.
Suspicious Vehicle/Person
On Feb. 14, Meinardus responded to the 1700 block of E. State Highway 71 Bypass where caller stated that there was a white truck by the dumpster of the store. Officer arrived on location and checked the area but no vehicle or person was present.
On Feb. 15, Wostarek was dispatched to the 400 block of Sherwood in regard to a suspicious person. Upon arrival officer could not locate anyone.
On Feb. 15, Wostarek was dispatched to the 700 block of S. Jefferson in regard to a suspicious person. Officer was unable to locate anyone.
On Feb. 15, Adams was advised of a green Honda passenger car driving around the block in the 500 block of S. Madison and reports of footprints in the snow around the neighbor’s house. Officer checked the area and observed numerous people outside in the snow and several cars but no green Honda.
On Feb. 16, Mohr received a call of a suspicious person that was possibly intoxicated. Upon arrival officer met the suspicious person and he did not show any signs of intoxication and was trying to get a ride to a family member in the county to check on their welfare.
On Feb. 19, Meinardus responded to the 600 block of S. Washington where caller stated that he confronted a subject in his front yard after his ring doorbell went off. Subject advised he was looking for his dog then left. Officer located the subject matching the description who had a dog on a leash and subject advised his dog had gotten out.
On Feb. 21, Currington responded to the 1600 block of W. State Highway 71 for a new vehicle at the location with the horn blowing continually. Officer checked the unoccupied vehicle that was apparently having a malfunction with the horn. It did finally cut off by itself.
Theft
On Feb. 16, Zwahr spoke with a caller in the 1000 block of N. Madison in regard to a possible theft.
On Feb. 190, Zwahr spoke with a caller in regard to a theft in the 100 block of S. Brown.
Traffic Hazard
On Feb. 16, Anderson received a call in regard to vehicles disregarding the barricade at Country Club Drive and Highway 71 Business. Upon arrival officer reset the cones. Country Club Drive was iced over.
Trespassing
On Feb. 15, Wostarek was dispatched to the 400 block of Sherwood in regard to a subject that was trespassing. Officer ar rived on location and the subject had left.
On Feb. 17, Wostarek was dispatched to the 200 block of S. Ellinger in regard to a subject that was trespassing. Subject left prior to officer’s arrival.
Welfare Check
On Feb. 14, Patrolman Robin Emmons responded to One St. Mark’s Place in the emergency room for a subject yelling and throwing items. Subject was released from the emergency room but had no one to pick her up. Subject was allowed to stay in the lobby if she would not disrupt the emergency room.
On Feb. 14, Meinardus was dispatched to the 1500 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for two subjects sitting in a vehicle that had rented a room but had not entered it. Officer checked on the subjects who were having trouble getting into the room due to the ice conditions. Officer assisted them into the room.
On Feb. 16, Anderson responded to the 500 block of E. Pearl to check on the resident.
On Feb. 16, Haman spoke with a subject in regard to a welfare check in the 1500 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Subject was located and caller was notified that he was fine.
On Feb. 16, Zwahr performed a welfare check in the 500 block of N. Sarah Jo and found all was fine.
On Feb. 18, Wostarek was dispatched to the 500 block of N. Sarah Jo in regard to a welfare check. Officer arrived on location and spoke to a male subject who stated all was fine.
On Feb. 18, Meinardus was dispatched to the 500 block of N. Horton where caller stated that an elderly subject was locked in her home but could not get the locks unlocked. Officer went to location and was able to enter the home through a window the subject unlocked. Officer helped to get the locks on the door open.
On Feb. 20, Zwahr responded to the 1500 block of W. Travis for a male subject walking in and out of traffic. Officer was unable to locate the subject walking along the road.
On Feb. 19, Currington was dispatched to the 200 block of Ellinger for a welfare check and subject was found to be fine.
Miscellaneous
On Feb. 15, Zwahr spoke with a subject in the 400 block of E. Colorado in regard to their bass in the vehicle being too loud.
On Feb. 15, Anderson assisted an 18-wheeler in turning his vehicle around at the intersection of E. Eblin and S. Jefferson due to the roadway being shut down.
On Feb. 16, Zwahr assisted a truck in the 500 block of N. Horton that was stuck facing east to west.
On Feb. 17, Wostarek responded to the 100 block of N. Washington to a possible gas leak. Officer arrived on location and searched the area and could not smell any gas.
