LG Police Chief David Gilbreath Reports on Recent Activity
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Aug. 8-15.
Assault
On Aug. 8, Patrolman David Mohr received a call of an assault in progress in the 600 block of E Pecan.
Agency Assist
On Aug. 9, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 300 block of S. Main to speak with a subject regarding a fraud case.
Animal Complaint
On Aug. 8, Animal Control Officer Dean Ahlschlager checked on two dogs in a house in the 700 block of N. Washington. The owner picked them up.
On Aug. 9, Ahlschlager checked on two dogs in the 1000 block of E. Camp. Dogs had food and water.
On Aug. 10, Ahlschlager put a dog back in its yard in the 200 block of Wedgewood. Owner will keep the dog in the yard.
Accident
On Aug 10, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 300 block of E. Pearl in regard to a traffic accident.
On Aug. 13, Meinardus responded to the 1400 block of N. Highway 77 for a two-vehicle accident. Minor injuries and officer gathered information and completed an accident report.
Civil Matter
On Aug. 9, Wostarek spoke with a caller in the 200 block of S. Lester about a civil matter.
On Aug. 11, Sgt. Travis Anderson received a call in regard to a criminal trespass in the 300 block of N. Monroe.
Citizen Assist
On Aug. 8, Mohr received a call in the 700 block of E. Walnut of a juror wanting to notify the court that he was out of town. Officer gave the citizen a correct number to call the district clerk in the morning.
On Aug. 8, Mohr received a call of a motorist assist in the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business parking lot. Officer arrived and assisted with changing a tire with a tire service.
Disturbance
On Aug. 11, Anderson made a return call to the 300 block of N. Monroe for a disturbance.
On Aug. 11, Anderson received a call in regard to a disturbance in the 300 block of N. Monroe.
On Aug. 14, Patrolman Justin Koehne responded to the 700 block of E. Eblin in reference to a subject who would not leave.
On Aug. 14, Meinardus responded to the 100 block of W. Eblin for a male and a female yelling at each other. Officer spoke with both parties who stated they were arguing. Subjects left the location.
On Aug. 14, Wostarek was dispatched to the 400 block of N. Vail in regard to a disturbance.
Family Violence
On Aug. 9, Wostarek was dispatched to the 600 block of E. Lafayette in regard to a disturbance. Officer arrived on location and took information.
Fraud
On Aug. 9, Koehne responded to the 1100 block of N. Jefferson and took a fraud report.
On Aug. 12, Patrolman Robin Emmons responded to the 1100 block of N. Jefferson for an identity theft.
On Aug 12, Mohr received a call of a fraudulent check that was received in the 2800 block of E. Old Highway 71.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On Aug. 9, Meinardus responded to the 1000 block of E. Travis where caller stated that a woman walked into her home and stated she was looking for a family and when she was informed she had the wrong home she left the location. Officer gathered information.
On Aug. 9, Meinardus responded to the 400 block of N. Jackson where a caller stated that a subject was walking around a home that was being renovated. Officer took information.
On Aug. 10, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell was dispatched to the 400 block of E. Travis in regard to a suspicion person.
On Aug. 11, Anderson responded to the area of N Horton and Hope for teenagers standing near a tree outside of an empty residence. Officer was unable to locate anybody in the area and cleared the call.
On Aug. 12, Mohr received a call of a suspicious vehicle in the 700 block of E. Walnut that was checking mailboxes in town. Officer was unable to locate the vehicle.
On Aug. 13, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr responded to a call of someone knocking on the caller’s window in the 200 block of S. Overbay. Officer searched the area but was unable to locate any suspicious person.
On Aug. 13, Meinardus responded to the 400 block of E. Travis for a subject that was panhandling. Officer arrived and asked the subject to leave and subject left without incident.
Theft
On Aug. 8, Zwahr responded to the 2000 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to a theft. Officer took information.
On Aug. 9, Maxwell spoke to a complainant in regard to a theft in the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Officer took information for a report.

Trespassing
On Aug. 8, Mohr received a call of a subject trespassing in the 900 block of S. Jefferson.
On Aug. 13, Wostarek was dispatched to the 700 block of E. Lafayette in regard to a male subject that was knocking on a door. Officer arrived and spoke with both subjects and one subject was issued a criminal trespass warning and left the location.
Welfare Check
On Aug. 9, Maxwell was dispatched to the 700 block of E. State Highway 71 Frontage in regard to a welfare check.
On Aug. 10, Wostarek was dispatched to the 600 block of E Travis in regard to a welfare check.
On Aug. 11, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to the 400 block of N. Main for a welfare check. Officer made contact with the subject and all was fine.
On Aug. 12, Mohr received a call of a welfare check in the 500 block of Sarah Jo. Officer found the subject at the residence had a cell phone that was out of order. Officer made contact and notified caller that all was fine.
Miscellaneous
On Aug. 9, Meinardus was dispatched to the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for an individual that was parked in a handicapped spot. Officer searched the area and found no vehicle matching the description given.
On Aug. 10, Koehne spoke with a caller about someone using his grandmother’s car in the 900 block of E. Guadalupe.
On Aug. 12, Mohr received a call of numerous 911 hang-up calls from a disconnected cell phone in the 300 block of Diers. Officer located the child playing with the cell phone.
On Aug. 13, Wostarek was dispatched to the 500 block of Eckel in regard to loud music. Officer searched the area but did not locate any loud music.
On Aug. 14, Koehne responded to the 200 block of E. Live Oak for debris in the road. When officer arrived the subject who lost the item was removing it.
On Aug. 14, Koehne responded to the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in reference to a child locked in a vehicle. The vehicle was unlocked and the child was fine.
