Household tips for January:

• If you have a decal on a mirror or somewhere it isn’t wanted anymore, just take a rag with some warm vinegar on it and it should wipe away quite easily.

• A good way to make sure the package gets where it is supposed to go: put the address on the package with a large black marker and then put pieces of clear wide tape over the address and a few inches beyond. This way, the address stays legible even if the package gets wet.

• To clean the mineral deposit from a shower head, soak it in white vinegar for a while.

In the Kitchen

Nothing is better than a big bowl of soup on a cold winter’s night. This month’s featured recipe is one that everyone seems to enjoy. You can serve it on top of Fritos, Tortilla chips or cornbread and top it with sour cream, avocado and grated cheese. Taco Soup

Taco Soup

In a large pot cook 1 pound hamburger – brown with onions, drain grease

Add the following:

1 can hominy, drained

1 can black beans, rinse and drain

1 can corn

1 can Rotel (I use half of a can.)

1 can sliced tomatoes 1 family size tomato soup

1 family size tomato soup (The large size.)

1 package taco seasoning

1 package ranch seasoning

A little water

Mix all together and let simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
