Legion Post Honors RT-C Girls’ State Delegates
At their Sept. 3 monthly meeting, American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338 and Auxiliary members honored four students from Round Top-Carmine High School who attended the 2026 American Legion Auxiliary Texas Girls’ State. These students were sponsored by the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338.
Students attending were: Jaylen Bage, Kylie Amos, Avery Lamson, and Angie Le Bouef.
Prior to the meeting of the Post and the Auxiliary, these students and their families were honored by the Post members with a catered meal. Following the meal Debra Foster, RT-C Counselor, introduced the Girls State delegates to the members and guests in attendance. Each delegate gave an individual presentation on attending the 2026 Girls State, providing an overview of the events and the lessons they learned. Each delegate expressed thanks to the Post for sponsoring their attendance at Girls’ State.
American Legion Auxiliary Texas Girls State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for high school students. It is patterned after the Texas Boys State program of the American Legion that has been conducted annually since 1935. This year both State sessions involved over 600 students in a participatory program where each attendee becomes a citizen of the operation of their local, county, and state government.
Members of the Post and Auxiliary, faculty and staff of the school district, parents, and community members are encouraged to nominate RT-C students to attend either the 2027 Girls’ State or 2027 Boys’ State sessions. Post #338 has pledged to support students who are currently juniors and desire to attend this beneficial event. Nominations should be sent to the RT-C High School Principal, RaChelle Kuecker or the RT-C High School Counselor, Debra Foster.
The American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338 and Auxiliary meets the first Thursday of each month at their hall located at 1503 N. State Highway 237, Round Top. Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m.
