Ledbetter Homecoming to Serve Fish Fry Meal Sunday
Ledbetter Homecoming is Sunday, June 13 at Ledbetter Firemen’s Park. A drive-thru fried fish dinner will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tickets are pre-sale only and are available from Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department members, at Carmine State Bank, and at Round Top State Bank in both Round Top and Giddings. A bake sale will benefit the Ledbetter Homemakers’ Club.
Service of Remembrance
A service of remembrance was held on Memorial Day at the Carmine City Park, sponsored by the Carmine EDC.
Lyn Reavis, Post Commander of the Quade-Werchan American Legion Post, gave a tribute to fallen veterans of all wars. Ruby McCullough said the prayer and benediction. She and Susan Bathe read the names of deceased community veterans.
Jennifer Mohr played taps while Mr. Reavis and Wade Eilers lowered the flag. Nancy Eilers accompanied the group singing “The Star Spangled Banner.” Light refreshments were served after the program.
RT-C School News
Round Top-Carmine ISD is on break for the summer. Classes for the 2021-2022 school year will begin on Aug. 23.
Check out the list on the RT-C website for summer opportunities for students in various grades. They include a band program, basketball camp, cheer camp, junior and senior Beta Club service days, open gym, events at Round Top Family Library, strength and conditioning, and volleyball camp.
Carmine VFD
Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is June 10.
They are planning their annual Feast and Fundraiser on July 18 with a drive-thru fried chicken meal. They will also have a drawing.
The department reminds residents to place house numbers where they can be seen from the road at night and during daylight.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion, observing Third Sunday after Pentecost, is at 10 a.m. The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor. Acolyte training for youth and parents follows worship.

Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Baptism
Axle Woodruff was baptized May 23 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine by the Rev. David Tinker. His parents are Lyndell and Al Woodruff.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
