La Grange Police Respond to Suspicious Calls
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following activities his department responded to during the week of May 2-9.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On May 2, Mohr received a call of a suspicious person in a vehicle in the 100 block of Joy.
On May 3, Wostarek was dispatched to the 700 block of Heintze in regard to a suspicious person. Officer arrived on location and spoke with a male subject. The subject left after speaking with the officer.
On May 3, Maxwell checked on a suspicious vehicle in the 1600 block of W. State Highway 71 Business.
On May 5, Currington was dispatched to the 200 block of Ellinger for a subject walking back and forth at the location. Officer arrived and the subject had already left.
On May 5, Mohr received a call of suspicious behavior with a car alarm in the 100 block of Charles. Officers arrived and determined the alarm had a malfunction.
On May 7, Wostarek was dispatched to the 2100 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to a suspicious person. Officer arrived and spoke with a male subject. Subject advised he got tired while driving and was resting for a bit.
Burglary of a Motor Vehicle
On May 6, Currrington was dispatched to the 200 block of Lee in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle. Officer took information.
Assault
On May 5, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell was dispatched to the 600 block of N. Jefferson in regard to an assault.
Animal Complaint
On May 2, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to the 200 block of W. Travis for a deer that was hit by a car and the deer was on the sidewalk. Officer then called animal control to pick up deer.
On May 2, Currington was dispatched to a loose dog in the roadway in the 1000 block of N. Jefferson. Officer took dog to the shelter.
On May 5, Animal Control Officer Dean Ahlschlager put a dog back in a yard in the 100 block of E. Guadalupe. Owner advised he would keep dog in.
On May 6, Sgt. Travis Anderson responded to the 500 block of W. Lowerline for an animal complaint.
Citizen Assist
On May 6, Mohr received a call of a dog locked in a vehicle in the 300 block of N. Jefferson. Officer assisted with getting the vehicle unlocked.
Civil Matter
On May 3, Chief David Gilbreath responded to the 500 block of N. Jefferson where complainant advised that subject had junk piled up on sidewalk.
On May 3, Gilbreath responded to the 500 block of E. Guadalupe where complainant wants the subject living in the garage told to leave property.
On May 6, Patrolman David Mohr received a call of a tenant that was locked out of their apartment in the 500 block of N. Jefferson. Officer advised the individual to contact the manager to resolve the issue.
Disturbance
On May 4, Patrolman Brett Meinardus was dispatched to the 900 block of E. Colorado where caller stated that a subject was yelling at employees because he was very angry and they wanted an officer there to keep the situation from escalating. Officer went to the location and stood by while the subjects worked on the situation.
On May 4, Meinadus responded to the 2400 block of W. State Highway 71 Business where caller advised that a subject was attempting to deliver some items but he had the wrong address and he became angry and began cursing at them. Officer arrived on location and it was discovered the subject had the wrong address.
On May 8, Patrolman Robin Emmons responded to One St. Mark’s Place where a subject that had been transported there by Lee County was in the emergency room and was being aggressive toward the staff.
Harassment
On May 7, Meinardus responded to the 100 block of Meadow where caller stated that he was being harassed. Officer contacted the caller who stated that the incident was being taken care of.
On May 8, Emmons responded to the 100 block of Meadow where complainant advised deputies were harassing him and that he has already spoken to the sheriff.
On May 8, Meinardus spoke to complainant in the 900 block of S. Madison who advised that a vehicle, which stopped at a gas station he went to, was following him and the vehicle waited until he left and followed him. He advised he then crossed paths with the vehicle again. Individual found this suspicious.
Littering
On May 2, Currington was dispatched to the 200 block of E. Travis for possible dumping in trash dumpster. Subject was gone upon officers arrival.
Lost Property
On May 3, Caller advised he lost his wallet in the Walmart parking in the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 and wanted to advise the authorities.
Possession
On May 4, Patrolman John Wostarek conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Highway 159. Subject did not have a valid drivers license and was found to be in possession of narcotics. Subject was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
Reckless Driving
On May 2, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr responded to a call of a vehicle driving recklessly in the 1800 block of Hwy. 71 Bypass.
Theft
On May 4, Maxwell was dispatched to the 100 block of W. Travis in regard to a theft. Officer took information.
Welfare Check
On May 2, Anderson received a call for a suicidal subject in the 900 block of E. Guadalupe.
On May 4, Meinardus responded to the 500 block of N. Jefferson for a welfare check. Officer arrived on location but did not make contact with the individual. Officer called the subject and was eventually able to confirm that she was fine.
On May 7, Patrolman Brian Adams conducted a welfare check on an individual in the 700 block of E. Pearl and notified appropriate personnel to assist.
Miscellaneous
On May 3, Meinardus responded to the 800 block of N. Jefferson for vehicles parked in the church parking lot that were not suppose to be there. Officer asked the subjects to move vehicles and they did immediately.
On May 3, Meinardus responded to the 800 block of E. Upperline where caller stated that an individual was illegally dumping in their dumpster.
On May 4, Meinardus responded to the 200 block of N. Water for a vehicle that had been left on the street and had not moved for two weeks. Officer tagged the vehicle as abandoned.
On May 5, Currington was dispatched to the 400 block of W. Milam for an open fire of cut tree limbs. Officer could not contact the homeowner but put the fire out with a water hose.
On May 5, Currington conducted traffic control in the 1600 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Officer helped individual get a vehicle unstuck from a driveway drop-off.
On May 6, Mohr received a call of an abandoned vehicle in the 100 block of E. Cedar. The vehicle was tagged and officer made contact with the owner to have it moved.
