La Grange Police Respond to Burglary of Motor Vehicle, Illegal Dumping Complaint
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of May 23-30.
Burglary of Motor Vehicle
On May 25, Currington was dispatched to the 200 block of E. Pearl for a burglary of a motor vehicle.
Citizen Assist
On May 28, Mohr received a call of a tree that had fallen on a trailer house in the 900 block of S. Jefferson. Officer arrived and they had family cutting the tree off the roof and there was no damage to the residence.
On May 28, Mohr received a call of a tree that had fallen on a motor home at E. Bluffview. Officer arrived and called for assistance from the fire department, who cut the tree off of the RV to free the occupants.
On May 26, Patrolmen Brett Meinardus responded to the 800 block of S. Reynolds where caller stated that someone dumped household trash in his dumpster and he wanted to see if the officer could contact the individuals to advise them that it is not a public dumpster.
On May 26, Meinardus responded to the 300 block of E. Walnut where complainant stated that she received a threatening letter regarding a rent home that she is currently renting in town. Officer was given the letter and documented the incident.
Criminal Mischief
On May 29, Currington was dispatched to the 1000 block of E. Pearl for a vehicle that drove in the grass.
Trespassing
On May 27, Meinardus responded to the 200 block of S. Ellinger where caller stated that a subject was sleeping in a room that was not rented to anyone. Officer spoke to the subject who stated that his girlfriend told him that she had rented the room and had the key to the room. Subject was asked to leave and return the key.
Agency Assist
On May 28, Currington provided traffic control for city maintenance crews to pick up large debris, limbs, and brush in the 500 block of S. Jefferson.
Animal Complaint
On May 28, Patrolman Cari Haman responded to One St. Marks Place in reference to a dog left in a vehicle. The vehicle owner was not located however the windows were partially down and the dog was not in distress.
On May 29, Patrolman David Mohr received a call of two dogs loose in the 1000 block of N. Franklin. Officer located owners and dogs were already back in their yard.
On May 29, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to the 600 block of S. Meyer for a large snake. Caller decided to leave the snake alone for now since it was a chicken snake.
Accident
On May 24, Mohr received a call of a single-vehicle crash in the 1000 block of West State Highway 71 Bypass.
On May 25, Currington was dispatched to an accident in the 100 block of W. Travis. Officer took information.
On May 28, Haman responded to the 1600 block of N. Jefferson to a two-vehicle accident at US Highway 77 southbound and State Highway 71 westbound feeder road.
Alarm
On May 24, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr received an alarm call in the 2300 block of W. Travis and upon arrival officer discovered an open door. Officer cleared the business and secured the building.
On May 27, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 2200 block of W. State Highway 71 Business for an alarm. Upon arrival officer found the building to be secure.
Civil Matter On May 25, Patrolman
On May 25, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell was dispatched to the 500 block of E. Milam in regard to a civil matter.
On May 26, Wostarek was dispatched to the 500 block of N. College in regard to a civil matter.
On May 29, Mohr received a call of a family separating in the 700 block of S. Jefferson and conducted a civil standby.
Credit Card Abuse
On May 29, Currington was dispatched to the 400 block of E. Travis in reference to possible credit card abuse.
Dispute
On May 23, Maxwell was dispatched to the 200 block of S. Jefferson in regard to a dispute.
Reckless Driving
On May 25, Currington responded to the 200 block of S. Ellinger for a reckless driver. Officer was unable to find the vehicle in the area.
On May 27, Wostarek was dispatched to the 800 block of S. Vail in regard to a reckless driver.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On May 29, Mohr received a call of a white male running around the parking lot with a metal rod in the 1900 block of Highway 159. Officer was unable to locate the individual.
On May 29, Mohr received a call of a male sitting in the roadway in the 600 block of Mode. Officer arrived and was unable to locate anyone in the area.
On May 26, Wostarek was dispatched to the 100 block of W. Pearl in regard to a suspicious person. Officer searched the area and was unable to locate.
On May 27, Meinardus responded to the 600 block of Highway 71 Bypass where caller stated that a subject was walking west on the feeder road and was waving his hands in the air and cursing. Officer spoke to subject who was calm and coherent and stated that he was walking to town and he was fine.
On May 27, Meinardus responded to the 400 block of E. Travis for a subject who was outside yelling at a wall and seemed disoriented. Officer spoke to the subject and he stated he was fine. Officer contacted a deputy who gave the subject a ride to his home in the county.
Traffic Hazard
On May 24, Sgt. Travis Anderson received a call for high water at N. Monroe and E. Lafayette.
On May 24, Zwahr checked a down wire at N. Rosenberg and E. Laurie
On May 27, Haman assisted with traffic control for a subject who lost a load of building material from his trailer in the 900 block of S. Jefferson.
Welfare Check
On May 23, Wostarek was dispatched to the 1000 block of N. Madison in regard to a welfare check.
On May 26, Meinardus responded to the 200 block of N. Washington where caller stated that a man in a hospital shirt was sitting on a bench outside yelling at himself. Officer arrived and made contact with the subject who was not yelling at himself and stated that he was fine and thanked the officer for checking on him.
On May 28, Mohr received a call of a tree down on a power line in the 1500 block of W. State Highway 71 Business. Officer arrived and found the downed tree and contacted Fayette Electric to report outage.
On May 28, Mohr received a call of a welfare concern in the 400 block of N. Main. Officer arrived and found the subject had been located and was fine.
Miscellaneous
On May 24, Anderson received a 911 open line call in the 100 block of S. Franklin. Upon arrival officer spoke with the pastor who stated that they were doing some work inside but everything was fine officer cleared call.
On May 25, Zwahr spoke with a subject in regard to a stolen phone in the 1400 block of W. Travis.

On May 28, Mohr received a call of loud music in the 700 block of Heintze. Officer located the music and had them turn it down.
On May 28, Mohr received a call of a sign that fell in the roadway. Upon officers arrival the roadway was clear.
On May 29, Mohr received a call of loud music in the 400 block of E. Camp. Officer was unable to locate any loud music.
On May 29, Mohr received a call of loud music in the 100 block of W. Live Oak. Officer was unable to locate any loud music in the area.
