La Grange Police Respond to Accidents, Scam Call

La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Jan. 16-23.

Assault

On Jan. 18, Sgt. Travis Anderson responded to the 600 block of Jefferson in regards to an assault.

Alarm

On Jan. 16, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 600 block of E. Pearl for a residential alarm. Officer upon arriving spoke with the homeowner who stated they didn’t how the alarm was triggered.

On Jan. 21, Meinardus responded to the 100 block of E. Travis for an alarm. Building was secure with no signs of forced entry.

On Jan. 22, Meinardus responded to the 100 block of E Travis for an alarm going off. Officer found all to be secure.

On Jan. 22, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Travis in regard to an alarm. Officer found the building to be secure.

Animal Complaint

On Jan. 18, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched gtothe 1000 block of E. Hwy. 71 Business for a loose cow. Officer was able to get cows back to the corral

On Jan. 21, Meinardus responded to the 300 block of Wood Hollow for a dog in an apartment that was barking nonstop. The officer spoke to the resident and they took the dog and calmed it down.

Accident

On Jan. 16, Patrolman Justin Koehne responded to the 1900 block of W. State Hwy. 71 Business for a vehicle that was hit while individual was shopping. A blue form was issued.

On Jan. 18, Currington responded to the 2000 block of Hwy. 71 West for a minor accident in the parking lot. Subjects issue blue forms.

On Jan. 18, Anderson responded to the 100 block of S. Jefferson for a two vehicle minor accident.

On Jan. 22, Currington was dispatched to the 1600 block of W. State Hwy. 71 Business for an accident in the parking lot.

Civil Matter

On Jan. 21, Currington was dispatched to the 900 block of E. Travis for a civil matter.

On Jan. 22, Currington was dispatched to the 400 block of S. Jefferson for a civil matter.

Disturbance

On Jan. 18, Anderson was dispatched to the 200 block of Ellinger for a possible disturbance.

Disorderly Conduct

On Jan. 21, Wostarek was dispatched to the 1800 block of E. State Hwy. 71 Bypass in regards to disorderly conduct. Officer arrived on location and took information from several subjects.

Harassment

On Jan. 17, Currington responded to the 100 block of S. Madison to speak to subject about a person who keeps calling for an employee.

Scam

On Jan. 21, Anderson received a call to contact complaint in the 800 block of N. Monroe for a possible scam. The caller advised they were trying to solicit funds for the National Police and Sheriffs Association. Officer checked into the group and found that it does not exist and that the phone number apparently had been spoofed online, as it no longer receives calls.

Suspicious Person/Vehicle

On Jan. 16, Koehne responded to the 600 block of N. Madison for a suspicious person.

On Jan. 17, Meinardus responded to the 1000 block of N. Madison for a subject knocking on complainants door. Officer met with the subject who had left his keys to his apartment and was attempting to get help to get into his apartment.

On Jan. 18, Chief David Gilbreath responded to the 1000 block of e. Lafayette for a gray Lexus being parked for a couple of hours with subject sitting inside. Officer spoke with subject who worked or he railroad and was waiting on a crew to arrive.

On Jan. 18, Currington was dispatched to the 800 block of S. Jefferson in regard to suspicious subjects. Subjects had left prior to officer’s arrival.

On Jan. 18, Anderson responded to the 2000 block of W. State Hwy. 71 Business for a male that was inside the business and appeared to be agitated, he left walking west along the roadway. Officer located the subject and he advised he was fine and no problems.

On Jan. 19, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr spoke with a subject in regard to him walking down the road and yelling randomly in the 300 block of N. Jefferson.

On Jan. 20, Wostarek was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Colorado in regard to a suspicious person. Officer searched the area but could not locate anyone in the area.

On Jan. 21, Meinardus responded to the 1000 block of N. Von Minden for a car in the church parking lot. Officer located the vehicle and it was not running and spoke to the vehicles owner.

On Jan. 21, Currington was dispatched to the 1700 block of State Hwy. 71 Business for a subject. Subject was given and criminal trespass warning.

On Jan. 22, Meinardus responded to the 1000 block of E. Travis for someone who rang complainant’s doorbell and wanted the officer to check the area.

On Jan. 22, Currington was dispatched to the 1800 block N. Jefferson for a while male with tattoos down his arms. Resident saw him come across his yard on his surveillance camera. Officer advised the subject had left the location.

On Jan. 22, Currington was dispatched to the 400 block of E. Travis for a subject panhandling. Subjects left before officer arrived.

On Jan. 22, Currington was dispatched to the 500 block of N. Horton for a vehicle driving reckless. Officer checked the area but vehicle was gone.

Trespassing

On Jan. 19, Koehne checked the 300 block of E. Guadalupe for subjects staying in a tree house. Subjects were advised they were trespassing and left.

Welfare Check

On Jan. 22, Currington was dispatched to the 1600 block of W. State Hwy 71 Business for a welfare concern.

Miscellaneous

On Jan. 17, Meinardus responded to the 100 bock of N. Jefferson in regard to a credit card charge used to purchase tires over the phone was fraudulent.

On Jan. 19, Zwahr responded to the 600 block of N. Washington for an illegal burning. Officer observed no signs of any type of fire or burning.

On Jan. 21, Investigator Troy Stevens responded to the 100 block of W. Travis for subjects soliciting for money at the intersection of Hwy. 71 and Hwy. 77. Officer made contact with one of the subjects and advised they were violating city ordinance and they had to leave until permit was obtained.
