La Grange Police Investigate Car Burglaries
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Jan. 3-10.
Burglary of a Vehicle
On Jan. 5, Patrolman David Mohr received a call of several vehicles that had been burglarized in the 200 block of Cynthia. Officer arrived and took report.
On Jan. 5, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr responded to the 800 block of E. Milam to a call of a vehicle being broken into. Officer took information.
On Jan. 6, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 200 block of S. Lynnwood in regard to a burglary of a vehicle. Officer took information.
On Jan. 9, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to the 1600 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to a burglary of a motor vehicle. Officer took information for four different vehicles.
On Jan. 9, Sgt. Travis Anderson received a call in regard to a burglary of a motor vehicle on Bluffview.
Burglary of A Habitation
On Jan. 5, Zwahr spoke with a caller in the 200 block of S. Lester in regard to items being moved around in his garage.
Assault
On Jan. 3, Wostarek was dispatched to the 400 block of N. Vail in regard to a male subject with a gun. Subject was arrested and transported to the Dan R Beck Justice Center.
Assault by Threat
On Jan. 5, Zwahr spoke with caller in regard to a road rage incident at E. Eblin and S. Ellinger.
Accident
On Jan. 6, Wostarek was dispatched to the 100 block of S. Washington for a traffic accident. Officer took information.
On Jan. 6, Wostarek responded to the 100 block of W. Travis where caller stated that a vehicle had knocked down a street lamp. Vehicle left prior to officer’s arrival.
On Jan. 6, Wostarek was dispatched to the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to a minor accident.
On Jan. 6, Wostarek spoke with a subject in the 1000 block of Highway 159 about an incident that happened. Officer issued an accident blue form to the subject.
Alarm
On Jan. 8, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 2200 block of Highway 71 Business to a burglar alarm. Officer checked the building and found it to be secure.
On Jan. 8, Meinardus responded to the 800 block of E. Travis for an alarm that had been activated. Officer checked the building and found the door unlocked. Officer cleared building and key holder was notified and nothing appeared stolen. Key holder locked the building.
On Jan. 9, Mohr received a call of an alarm in the 2200 block of Highway 71 Business. Upon arrival officer found the building to be secure.
Animal Complaint
On Jan. 6, Animal Control Officer Dean Ahlschlager put dogs in a back yard in the 100 block of Northpointe. Owner will keep the dogs in yard.
On Jan. 6, Ahlschlager checked on a pit-bull dog running loose in the 500 block of N. Horton.
On Jan. 9, Anderson received a repeat call for two loose dogs in the 1000 block of N. Franklin. Upon arrival officer located the dogs and with the assistance of a neighbor they were put back into a yard in the 1000 block of N. Von Minden. Officer could not get an answer at the door of the residence. Animal control officer will be notified, as this is not the first time the dogs have gotten out.
Agency Assist
On Jan. 10, Mohr assisted a DPS trooper with a DWI at St. Mark’s emergency room.
On Jan. 10, Mohr assisted Fayette County Sheriff’s Office with traffic on the bluff for a disabled motorist.
Civil Matter
On Jan. 4, Anderson spoke with complainant in the 900 block of N. Franklin in regard to a civil matter.
On Jan. 6, Patrolman Justin Koehne responded to the 700 block of E. Franklin in regard to a civil dispute.
Citizen Assist
On Jan. 3, Meinardus responded to the 400 block of E. Walnut where caller stated that they heard a loud noise that sounded as if someone hit their door. Officer patrolled the area throughout the night.
On Jan. 5, Patrolman Cari Haman responded to the 400 block of N. Main to help a citizen get back to his residence.
On Jan. 9, Currington responded to the 1000 block of E. State Highway 159 to talk to subjects for digging in the trash dumpsters.
Criminal Mischief
On Jan. 6, Wostarek was dispatched to the 100 block of E. Colorado in regard to a broken window. Officer spoke with caller about the incident.
Disorderly Conduct
On Jan. 4, Currington was dispatched to One St. Mark’s Place for an unruly patient. Officer spoke with patient and he calmed down.
On Jan. 6, Wostarek was dispatched to One St. Mark’s Place in regard to two subjects yelling at each other. Subjects were gone prior to officers arrival.
On Jan. 9, Mohr received a call of a dispute between neighbors in the 500 block of W. Lower Line. Officer arrived and met with both parties.
Disturbance
On Jan. 7, Wostarek was dispatched to the 200 block of S. Ellinger in regard to a disturbance. Officer arrived on location and took information.
On Jan. 8, Anderson received a call in regard to a disturbance in the 100 block of E. Colorado.
Family Violence Assault
On Jan. 7, Koehne responded to the 400 block of E. Travis and spoke with a subject about being assaulted at the location.
Harassment
On Jan. 3, Wostarek was dispatched to the 600 block of N Franklin in regard to harassment.
Juvenile Complaint
On Jan. 9, Currington was dispatched to the 200 block of Rose Mayer for a juvenile complaint. Officer spoke to parents and juvenile. No offense.
Property Damage
On Jan. 9, Anderson responded to the 600 block of W. Travis in regard to property damage. The driver had driven off.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On Jan. 4, Haman responded to the 100 block of E. Colorado in reference to a male subject who was causing a disturbance and not wanting to leave the location. Subject was gone prior to officer’s arrival.
On Jan. 7, Wostarek was dispatched to the 800 block of E. Travis in regard to a suspicious person. Officer arrived on location and spoke with a male subject. Subject left after speaking with officer
On Jan. 9, Currington was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Sarah Jo in reference of a suspicious sound like someone possibly knocking. Officer checked the area and did not find anyone.
On Jan. 9, Mohr received a call of a suspicious vehicle in the 700 block of E. Fannin. Officer arrived and identified the vehicle and person.
Traffic Hazard
On Jan. 3, Meinardus responded to the 200 block of Ellinger Road for a subject walking in the roadway. Officer made contact with the subject who stated he was walking along the side of the roadway and the car swerved and almost struck him. Officer gathered information and advised the subject to be careful on the road.
Trespassing
On Jan. 4, Zwahr responded to the 100 block of S. Reynolds for a subject trespassing at the location. Subject was gone upon officer’s arrival.
Theft
On Jan. 7, Wostarek spoke with a caller in the 700 block of N. Jackson in regard to a stolen vehicle.
On Jan. 10, Mohr received a call of a subject in the 600 block of E. Guadalupe that had lent his bike to another party and wanted his bike back. Officer attempted to recover the bike.
Traffic Hazard
On Jan. 9, Currington was dispatched to the 500 block of W. Lafayette in reference to a speeding vehicle. Officer located a parked vehicle matching the description and officer talked to the driver.
Warrant Arrest
On Jan. 4, Patrolman Maxwell arrested a subject in the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business.
Welfare Check
On Jan. 3, Koehne did a welfare check on a subject in the 400 block of E. Travis. Subject was fine.
On Jan. 5, Currington was dispatched to the 1500 block of Highway 159 for a subject lying down in the ditch. The subject was resting and was fine.
On Jan. 5, Currington was dispatched to the 500 block of N. Main for a welfare check on a subject and all was fine.
On Jan. 7, Meinardus was dispatched to the 1900 block of Highway 159 for a subject that had contacted them. The subject advised he did not know where he was, but was attempting to drive to the hospital. Subject pulled over at Bar-G where officer spoke to him and gave him a courtesy ride to the hospital.
Miscellaneous
On Jan. 4, Mohr while on routine patrol located an open door at the school in the 100 block of Vail. Officer notified custodial staff of the open door.
On Jan. 6, Wostarek was dispatched to the 2000 block of Highway 159 in regard to a vehicle parked on the shoulder. Subject moved the vehicle after speaking with officer.
On Jan. 9, Mohr responded to the 700 block of E. Milam for illegal burning within the city. Officer arrived and informed homeowner of ordinance and had them put out the fire.
