La Grange Police Department Assists with Pursuit, Makes Several Welfare Checks
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of March 14-21.
Agency Assist
On March 19, Patrolman Kevin Currington was dispatched to assist EMS in the 700 block of E. Pearl for a subject that fell off a mini bike while riding in the yard.
On March 20, Sgt. Travis Anderson assisted deputies with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office in vehicle pursuit. Officers conducted traffic control after the fleeing vehicle wrecked at the intersection of Highway 159 and eastbound State Highway 71 Bypass.
Accident
On March 16, Patrolman Brian Adams responded to the 600 block of S. Jefferson where complainant advised that a silver GMC pickup was legally parked and unattended at Las Fuentes. Vehicle was hit by a Jeep and security camera recorded the incident. Officer will continue to investigate in an attempt to locate the driver of the Jeep. Damage to the pickup included a broken taillight and a paint scuff on the rear right quarter panel below the taillight.
On March 18, Patrolman Mitchell Maxwell was dispatched to the intersection of N. Madison and E. Colorado in regard to a two-vehicle accident. Officer took crash report and a citation was issued.
On March 19, Patrolman Curtis Zwahr responded to the intersection of S. Jackson and E. Pecan for a two vehicle minor accident.
Animal Complaint
On March 15, Currington was dispatched to the 600 block of S. Meyer for an animal complaint of a loose dog. Owner was located and dog was returned to the owner.
On March 16, Zwahr spoke with a subject in regard to an animal complaint in the 100 block of Meadow Lane.
On March 17, Maxwell was contacted about a loose dog in the 500 block of S. Madison. Officer picked up the dog and returned it to the owner.
On March 18, Maxwell was dispatched to the 1000 block of Highway 159 in regard to a loose dog. The dog was returned back to the owner.
Alarm
On March 14, Patrolman John Wostarek was dispatched to the 1600 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to an alarm. Officer upon arrival found the building to be secure.
On March 18, Patrolman Brett Meinardus responded to the 200 block of N. Main for an alarm. The individual cleaning the office met officer upon arrival.
On March 19, Maxwell was dispatched to the 1700 block of E. State Highway 71 Bypass in regard to an alarm. Officer found an open door to the business. Officer cleared the building and then contacted keyholder.
Civil Matter
On March 15, Patrolman Cari Haman responded to the 100 block of W. Travis and advised party in a custody dispute that their matter was a civil matter.
Criminal Mischief
On March 19, Maxwell while on routine patrol in the 800 block of E. Travis observed a suspicious male outside in the front corner of the business. The male subject was arrested shortly after for criminal mischief and transported to jail.
On March 19, Haman met with the La Grange Elementary School administrator in reference to criminal mischief.
Citizen Assist
On March 19, Adams responded to the 200 block of S. Overbay where complainant stated that a subject came into her house and implanted something in her foot while she was asleep. Subject suffers from dementia and another present family member advised they would take care of her.
Disturbance
On March 16, Currington was dispatched to the 200 block of N. Monroe for a verbal disturbance/civil matter. Officer took information.
Loitering
On March 19, Adams responded to the 100 block of E. Travis for a subject sleeping on the sidewalk in front of the bank. Subject left before officer’s arrival and the subject was then located at the convenience store next door. Subject was advised to not loiter on bank property.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On March 15, Maxwell was dispatched to the 200 block of W. Colorado in regard to a suspicious person. Officer made contact with the subject and advised the subject he could not camp in the city. Subject agreed and left the location.
On March 15, Mohr received a call of several subjects around a business that were not wanted in the 200 block of S. Ellinger. The subjects were gone from the business upon officer’s arrival.
On March 16, Mohr received a call of people running around a residence in the 500 block of N. Jefferson. Upon arriving officer could not find anyone in the area.
On March 17, Meinardus responded to the 900 block of Hanacek Lane for a subject asleep under a tree next to the road. Officer checked on the subject who stated that he was just tired. The subject then got up and left.
On March 17, Meinardus responded to the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business where caller stated that she saw her 9-year-old cousin with an individual she did not know. Officer arrived on location and found that the child’s mother had arrived and the individual she was with was her sister. Mother advised it was a misunderstanding.
On March 18, Meinardus responded to the 100 block of N. Jefferson where caller stated that a white male wearing a black jacket was laying down in the vehicle service area. Officer asked the individual to leave the location and subject left the location.
On March 19, Currington was dispatched to the 700 block of E. Fannin in reference to a suspicious female and male subject on a motorcycle. Subjects were gone upon officer’s arrival.
On March 20, Currington was dispatched to the 500 block of E. Pearl to a suspicious person who walked into the location and then went outside and laid down. Officer asked the subject to leave.
Disorderly Conduct
On March 15, Patrolman David Mohr received a call of a fight in progress in the 400 block of N. Jefferson. Upon arriving all parties had fled the area and were unable to be located.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle
On March 15, Maxwell was dispatched to the 1000 block of N. Von Minden in regard to a vehicle being stolen and also for charges that were made to the complainant’s debit card. Officer took report.
Welfare Check
On March 14, Meinardus responded to the 2400 block of W. State Highway 71 Business where caller stated that a red vehicle had been parked at the gas pump for an hour. Officer went to the location and saw the vehicle pulling out and it was not driving erratically or suspiciously.
On March 15, Adams responded to the 200 block of E. Travis for a male subject dressed in black laying near the dumpster at a business across the street. Officer upon arrival advised this is a known individual and they were resting before moving on and all was fine.
On March 15, Adams responded to the 500 block of E. Lafayette where complainant called from Houston and stated her daughter’s caregiver had threatened and assaulted her. Officer spoke with both parties and was informed that no assault had occurred. There was just friction between both parties. Officer was informed that the complainant frequently calls to start drama. Parties separated.
On March 16, Mohr received a call of a welfare concern in the 200 block of E. Lindert. Officer arrived and found there was no one living at the address and was unable to locate the subject.
On March 17, Maxwell was dispatched to the 500 block of S. Cindy Lane in regard to a welfare check.
On March 17, Wostarek was dispatched to the 200 block of N. Jefferson in regard to a welfare check. Officer arrived on location and spoke with the male subject. The subject advised he was fine and had been taking a nap. Subject left after speaking with officer.
On March 19, Zwahr checked on subject in the 900 block of E. Colorado who advised they were just resting.
