KJZT Family Life Society No. 31 Holds Annual Meeting and Social
The 112th Anniversary of St. Frances of Rome Society No. 31 KJZT Family Life of La Grange takes place in November 2021. On Monday, Nov. 15, the annual meeting and social was held at Sealand Restaurant in La Grange beginning at 4 p.m. President Elizabeth Kallus called the meeting to order and led opening prayers especially remembering deceased members since the last meeting, Joyce Rohan, Elizabeth Cahoon, Angeline Winkler, Vivian Escalante, and Rose Wessels Hunger.
The pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags were recited, reading of the Aug. 16 meeting minutes was dispensed, Treasurer Barbara Eilert filed her report, bills were approved for payment, and Secretary Marilyn Kothmann read correspondence from KJZT State Office:
KJZT Clerical Endowment Fund enrollments report sent by Vice President Joy Kovar showed six special birthdays, and seven sympathies by Society No. 31, and thirty-two enrollments by individuals. The five deceased members were remembered with Mass intentions. Kallus gave the publicity and KJZT Traveling Unity Rosary reports.
Under unfinished business, The District V Family Social hosted by Society No. 20 Cistern was held at Robert’s Steakhouse in Flatonia on Sunday, Sept. 19, with the four officers attending. The District V officer’s luncheon hosted by State Director Donna Janda was held Sunday, Oct. 24, at Robert’s Steakhouse with Kallus, Kothmann, and Eilert attending.
Quarterly meeting dates for 2022 were set, the Community Project Thanksgiving Basket for the Family Crisis Center was finalized, membership pins have been delivered, and delegate Kallus gave a report on the XXXVI Regular Convention of the KJZT that was held Saturday, Nov. 6 in Hallettsville. She reported on the State Gifts, Fraternal Structure Graph changes, and election of State Directors. Member of Society No. 31 Joy Kovar was elected as District IV and V State Director with her term beginning January 2022.
Under new business, the current officers were re-elected for 2022; the annual feast day Mass will be Saturday, March 12 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church 5 p.m. Mass and the Society will take part in Catholic Schools Week in January 2022.
District V State Director Donna Janda spoke about the convention and Society happenings; and she was thanked for her four years of service.
The next quarterly meeting is planned for Monday, Feb. 21. Attendance prize was won by Doris Lidiak. The meeting closed with a Prayer to St. Joseph and the Memorare prayer and then the annual supper was enjoyed.
