KJZT Family Life Society Held Quarterly Meeting

The third quarterly meeting of Society No. 31 of La Grange, St. Frances of Rome, KJZT Family Life was held at 4:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Church narthex meeting room on Monday, Aug. 16. President Elizabeth Kallus called the meeting to order and led opening prayers and the pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags.

Reading of the May 17 meeting minutes was dispensed, Treasurer Barbara Eilert filed her report, bills were approved for payment, and thank you cards were read.

Secretary Marilyn Kothmann read correspondence from the KJZT State Office: Members who were 2021 high school graduates and also those continuing their higher education received a total of $35,850 that was awarded in 62 scholarships.

KJZT Clerical Endowment Fund enrollments report by Vice President Joy Kovar showed six special birthdays, one anniversary, and three sympathies by Society No. 31, twenty-five enrollments and one perpetual enrollment by individuals. Kallus gave the publicity and KJZT Traveling Unity Rosary reports.

The District V Family Social hosted by Society No. 20 Cistern is being held at Robert’s Steakhouse in Flatonia on Sunday, Sept. 19, with registration at 11 a.m. followed by a meal and social. Members of Society No. 31 who wish to attend should RSVP to President Elizabeth Kallus by Sept. 9.

Discussion was held on the People Helping People projects and members made decisions and voted on the community project for 2021 and 2022, and the parish project for 2022. Christmas presents for 2021 were approved for the Society No. 31 chaplain and spiritual advisor.

The next quarterly meeting and social is planned for Monday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m. to be held in the Sacred Heart Center. The society officers will plan the annual social/dinner.

The attendance prize was won by Kothmann. The meeting closed with a prayer to St. Joseph and the Memorare prayer.
