Mark your calendars for three wonderful days of fellowship, delicious food, and engaging programs at Senior Connections.

On Monday, Oct. 27, join in Schulenburg at 1111 Bohlmann Ave. at Wolters Park. Get ready for a true culinary treat. Koopman Catering will prepare a delightful chicken- fried chicken that’s sure to satisfy. We’re incredibly grateful to Connie Koopman for her ongoing contributions to our organization—not only does she serve on our board, but she’s also the mayor of our wonderful city. We don’t know how she finds time or energy to do it all.

Volunteers will pair this delicious main course with buttered potatoes and our famous house salad topped with seasonal fruit. Members are encouraged to bring desserts to share with their friends.

We have a musical treat in store for the Lunch and Learn program. Jim and Elena Pate have returned from Alaska and will bring their guitars for a delightful sing-along. Get ready to raise your voices and enjoy some wonderful music together. Bingo is at 12:30 p.m. Peyton Steele from AMEDISYS Hospice Care will join to call bingo.

On Tuesday, Oct. 28, join at Flatonia Methodist Church, 403 E. North Main St. Flatonia members are in for a real treat today. Amanda Kridel’s famous tamale pie is on the menu. We recently served it in Schulenburg and everybody loved it. This flavorful dish will be paired with pinto beans and our fresh garden salad. One of our members will bring desserts to complete the meal.

Valeria Rios with the Austin Area on Aging will present an essential and informative program on dementia, including recognizing the signs and what prevention measures we can take to avoid this debilitating disease. This is a program you won’t want to miss. Bingo will follow Valeria’s presentation at 12:30, Debbie V. Flatonia Healthcare will be in the house to call bingo.

On Wednesday, Oct. 29, we’re back in Schulenburg. It has been a while since we’ve enjoyed Amanda’s tasty meatloaf, and today is finally the day. Buttered potatoes and our house salad will accompany this comfort food favorite. Desserts provided by our talented baking members finish off the meal perfectly.

After lunch, we’ll go straight into our bingo game for an afternoon of fun and prizes. Our bingo caller will be a surprise today you’ll have to come and see who shows up to call the game.

Oct. 31 is Artful Friday on Halloween at Arts For Rural Texas Art Center in Schulenburg. Our October classes at Arts for Rural Texas will end today, and it will be exciting to see the finished products from our hard working participants. Diana Chafin’s assemblage class and Stephanie Shroyer’s mosaic class have created beautiful pieces throughout the month.

Pre-registration is a must to participate in these classes because space is limited in the classrooms. If you’re interested in joining us for any of our free, month-long workshops, call the center at (979) 743-3227.

Next month, Jaime Janda will teach her art journaling class for registered members, and Stephanie Shroyer will start a new mosaic class with a new group of students. Call to see if there’s room or get on the waitlist. We’re working on the schedule for next year, and we hope to have that published soon.

Please mark your calendars for our Thanksgiving celebration at the KC Hall in Schulenburg on Nov. 12. Doors open at 9 a.m., and members will find their favorite games waiting for them to play throughout the morning. After our holiday meal, we will enjoy Vic Rodriguez’ music until 2 p.m. There will be door prizes and a few other surprises, too. If you plan to attend, call (979) 743-3227.
