The 150th Anniversary Committee at Holy Cross Lutheran is looking for people who would be willing to be interviewed about the history of Holy Cross and the Warda community for the 150th Anniversary book/video. Interviews are flexible and will be scheduled at a location, time and date that is convenient for you. If you would be willing to spend a little time answering some questions and sharing what you know about the history of Holy Cross over the past 150 years, please email Sherrie Halpain at sherriehalpain@yahoo.com. Bible Study
The Bible study group at Holy Cross will be starting a new study on “The Chosen” on Wednesday, July 7 at 6:30 p.m. This is the official companion study to season one of the “The Chosen,” the groundbreaking television series about the life of Jesus.
What does it mean to be chosen? The study parallels each episode, connecting readers to the Bible in a brand-new way. It includes a deeper look at Isaiah 43 and its fulfillment in Jesus and the lives of His followers (including us), script excerpts, quotes and illustrations from the show as well as guiding questions for groups or individuals.
Being chosen by Jesus has beautiful and far-reaching implications-although it says even more about the Chooser than the choosees. We are loved because He’s love. We are saved because He’s merciful. We belong to the family of God because Jesus invites us, making the Bible and all its promises as true for us today as it was for God’s chosen nation.
What does it actually mean to be chosen? To answer that question, we will be going back to the Old Testament, which will than lead us back to the New Testament. Which always leads us directly to Jesus.
The study guide will be available on Wednesday, July 7, for $10.99. Please contact either Cyndy Zoch or Sherrie Halpain if you would like to participate so they will be sure and order enough study guides. Cyndy can be reached at (979) 966-3166 or cyndy.zoch@gmail.com and Sherrie can be reached at sherriehalpain@yahoo.com.
