Interstate-10 Traffic Stop Leads to Eight Bundles of Marijuana
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Monday morning around 9:12 a.m. drug interdiction Sgt. Randy Thumann and his canine Kolt conducted a traffic stop on a 2000 Chevrolet Z-71 on I-10 traveling eastbound at the 666 mile marker for a traffic violation.
The report said Thumann saw the driver who “exhibited very nervous behavior consistent when subjects transport illegal narcotics.”
Consent to search the vehicle was given and Thumann located an aftermarket compartment in the rear wall behind the back seat. A total of eight bundles of marijuana were removed from the compartment. Arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center was 53-year-old Alfredo Bonilla of Palmview who was charged with felony possession of marijuana.
