Houston Man Arrested After Traffic Stop Leads to Narcotics

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Wednesday night at around 10:56 p.m. Deputy Orlando Buitron-Solares and Deputy Michael Krenek conducted a traffic stop on a 2015 Nissan Altima on State Hwy. 71 eastbound near Chovanec Rd. in the Ellinger area for a traffic violation.

Upon contact with the driver a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. The driver admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and a marijuana cigar, vaping pen with THC oil, and a baggy containing Ecstasy pills was located.

Arrested was 36-year-old Dave Anthony Pena of Houston, who was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with Possession of two Controlled Substances and Possession of Marijuana.
