Hope Hill Annexation Moves Forward

The La Grange City Council took another step toward annexing the Hope Hill subdivision. State law requires the City to petition property owners within the subdivision. Those petitions are now going out to property owners.

At least 50 percent of the property owners must consent to the annexation before the City can proceed. The City of La Grange owns the majority of the lots in Hope Hill. At the meeting on Monday, the City essentially petitioned itself for annexation. Council authorized Mayor Jan Dockery to sign the petition for voluntary annexation.

Other property owners have until Jan. 8 to return the petitions. The City will hold a public hearing concerning the annexation in late January 2022. Raborn said the Hope Hill annexation would almost certainly take place since the City is the majority property owner and Council wishes to annex the property. – Andy Behlen
