Holy Cross Hosting Fundraiser Dec. 19 for Brisyn Dixon
A “Bark and Shop” Fundraiser event will be held in Warda on Sunday, Dec. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Picnic Grounds. This event is to help raise funds for Brisyn Dixon to get a service dog, as Brisyn has Autism Spectrum Disorder. There will be vendors with a great variety of items for your last-minute holiday shopping, as well as photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Clause, Texas Party Animals Alpacas and Tate the Calf. There will be live music, a bake sale and hot chocolate.
If you would like to donate items to the bake sale, it would be greatly appreciated. Just bring your items that day to the picnic grounds. Come on out to shop, enjoy this fun event and support a great cause. Afterwards join the Serbin Choir as they present a Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec. 19 beginning at 5 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Holy Cross. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the music of the season.
Faith Lutheran High
The Spring Raffle is just around the corner. The Board of Directors is currently looking for valuable items or monetary donations to be used in the raffle. Please contact Nikki Keuck if you have something to donate.
Shadow days are a great opportunity for prospective students to follow us for a day and experience what FLHS is all about. Parents can contact the school at 979-242-2889 to set up a shadow day for their child.
Sewing & Quilting Group
The sewing and quilting group at Holy Cross will be taking a break in December and will be starting again on Jan. 6.
The ladies still collect cancelled postage stamps, these are trimmed from their envelopes and sold to collectors. These can be dropped off at the church office, or in the designated box in the hallway.
If you are looking for some great Christmas gifts the ladies have their cookbooks for sale. These are $15 each. They also sell RADA Cutlery year-round. Paring knives, steak knives, tomato slicer, peelers, knife sharpeners, serving spoons, spatulas and more are all available and make great gifts. RADA Cutlery is made in the U.S.A. Contact Elaine Kieschnick at kieschnick@cvtx.com or stop by the church office to purchase cookbooks or cutlery.
The ladies also have a very nice selection of Christian Christmas Cards, as well as Birthday, Get Well, Sympathy, Wedding and Anniversary cards, sold by the box. These can be purchased from the church office.
Holy Cross Bible Study
The Bible Study Group at Holy Cross will start back on Wednesday, Jan. 5. This short eight-week study will cover the Sermon on the Mount. This will finish up prior to the start of Lent. If you would like to join the group please contact Cyndy Zoch at cyndy.zoch@gmail.com or (979) 966-3166 before Dec. 20, so she can order a study guide for you. The cost of the study guide will be $15-18.
Holy Cross Services
Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bi-ble Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.
“Then Sings My Soul” will be the title of the Advent Midweek sermon series focusing on the canticles surrounding Christmas. The last Advent service will be Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The Children’s Christmas Program will be held Friday, Dec. 24 at 6 p.m.
Christmas Day worship will be Saturday, Dec. 25 at 9 a.m.
New Years Eve worship will be Friday, Dec. 31 at 7 p.m.

Christmas at Tejas
Tejas Camp and Retreat Center will be open to the public this year for Christmas Dec. 10- 12 from 4 to 10 p.m. They are offering packages for $29 a person that will include lights, climbing wall, zip line, crate stacking, three-person swing, bounce house and fireworks. They also have VIP packages available for $43 per person that includes the above activities plus dinner, smores kit, hot chocolate and a DIY craft. More information can be found at www.mytejas.org.
