Holy Cross Church Picnic This Weekend

Holy Cross will be having their church picnic this Sunday, Sept. 5. There will be lots of great barbecue. They will sell pork by the pound and fryers will be sold individually beginning at 9:30 a.m. The ladies will have side dishes of potato salad, beans, coleslaw and noodles available and as always lots of great baked goods.

Worship service begins at 9 a.m. The ladies will also have a country store with plants, cutlery, cookbooks, handmade items and other great things for sale. A silent auction will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hamburgers, nachos and french fries will be sold beginning at 4 p.m.

There will be music all day with Mark Gruetzner playing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Rabbs Creek Band playing from 2-5 p.m. The live auction will begin at 5 p.m.

All are encouraged to come out to the picnic grounds and enjoy the day.

Fried Chicken Dinner

St. Paul Lutheran Adult Fellowship in Serbin are having their 24th annual fried chicken dinner on Sunday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Serbin picnic grounds. Only advance meal tickets will be sold for $12 and all plates are to-go. If you would like to purchase a meal ticket contact Susan Michael at 540-0854 or Sharon Claxton at 540-7154 by Sept. 6. All proceeds will be going to future church/school projects.

FLHS Golf Tournament

Faith Lutheran High School will be holding their annual golf tournament fundraiser on Sept. 18 at Frisch Auf Country Club in La Grange. Shotgun start is at 8 a.m. There will be prizes for first place team, second place team, longest drive, closest to pin and longest putt. Team registration includes golf cart and lunch, courtesy of Sauced Up & Smokin’. 33rd Annual Wendish Fest

The 33rd Annual Wendish Fest will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26 at the St. Paul Picnic Grounds. The day will offer lots of Wendish history, heritage, culture and family activities. The traditional Wendish meal will be available at 10:30 a.m. for $12 and children’s meals for $6. Togo and drive-thru will also be available at 9:30 a.m. All takeout meals are $12. 150th Anniversary

The 150th Anniversary Committee at Holy Cross Lutheran is looking for people who would be willing to be interviewed about the history of Holy Cross and the Warda community for the 150th Anniversary book/video. Interviews are flexible and will be scheduled at a location, time and date that is convenient for you. Bible Study

The Bible Study group at Holy Cross meets Wednesday evenings. They will be continuing their study on Exodus beginning Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m. This will be an eleven-week course that picks up where they left off in May. They will walk along as the Israelites travel through the wilderness on their way to the Promised Land. Holy Cross Services

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Faith Lutheran High School

FLHS currently has 18 students enrolled. If you are looking for a Christ-centered education, a rigorous college prep curriculum and small class size, contact the school at (979) 242-2889 and schedule a visit. There is a scholarship program available.

Everyone is invited to join the weekly Chapel Service held each Wednesday beginning at 10: 30 a.m.

Sewing Circle

The sewing circle meets each Thursday from 9 am to noon in the old fellowship hall at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Everyone is welcome to join this group. You do not have to be a member of Holy Cross to join them.
