Holiday Music Show Sunday in Ellinger
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Holiday Music Show on Sunday, Dec. 5 at the Ellinger Community Center. Local musical groups featured from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. (doors open at 9:30 a.m.) will be the Dujka Brothers, Zach Novak, D’Vine Testament, and The Wrens and Friends. Music tickets will be $5. A chamber fried chicken and sausage meal will be served starting at 10:30 a.m. You may dine in or get drive thru plates. The cost is $12 per plate. Additionally there will be a bake sale, raffle, and silent auction.
SLM Advent Worship Schedule
The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County has posted its Advent season worship schedule. Advent begins on Wednesday, Dec. 1 and the first midweek service will be held at Rutersville at 6 p.m. On Wednesday, Dec. 8 SLM members will worship at Ellinger at 6 p.m. and on Dec. 15-at Warrenton. The Longest Night service will be held on Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. in Rutersville.
Christmas Eve services are as follows: Dec. 24 at Ellinger-5 p.m.; Fayetteville at 6 p.m.; Warrenton at 7 p.m. and Rutersville at 8 p.m. A joint worship of lessons and carols will be held on Dec. 26 at St. Paul in Fayetteville.
Pot Luck Meal
St. Paul Fayetteville will host a pot luck meal and business meeting on Sunday, Dec. 12 following regular worship. Items to be addressed are the election of one Fayetteville Council position and one SLM Council position. The annual meeting is scheduled for Jan. 9 following worship.
SLM Annual Meetings
Both St. John Ellinger and St. John Rutersville will hold their annual meetings on Jan. 16 following worship. St. John’s Warrenton will hold its Annual meeting on Jan. 23 following worship services.
SLM Sunday School
The Shared Lutheran Ministry will be having Sunday School on Sunday, Dec. 5 from 3 to 5 p.m. The lessons will center around the twelve symbols of Christmas. Learning will be through Bible stories, cooking, games, crafts, and music. The Sunday school teachers are Carissa Karisch, MiLisa Gaertner, Laurie Karisch, Christy Noak, and Erin Oppermann. St. John Lutheran Council
St. John Lutheran Church of Ellinger held a Council meeting in mid-November. The minutes and treasurer’s reports were submitted and approved. Under old business the red banner design was approved for purchase, discussed cleaning personnel for the church and fellowship hall, and seeking to fill two council positions. Council will check into solar lighting for the church sign, get the church ready for Advent worship on Dec. 8 at 6 p.m., and notify membership of upcoming annual meeting scheduled for Jan. 16 following worship.
Christmas Dinner
St. John Rutersville will be holding its congregational Christmas Dinner on Sunday, Dec. 12 following the 10 a.m. worship service. Fried chicken will be provided and members are asked to bring a vegetable side and/or dessert. There will be a free will offering for the meal. You are asked to sigh up for plates on a clipboard in the narthex of the church. There will also be a silent auction. Proceeds from this year’s event will help fund the benevolence fund. Donations can be left in the fellowship hall.
Ellinger Sewer and Water
The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
Fayetteville Brethren Church
Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m.
