Harvest Festival Slated Oct. 17 in Carmine
The Harvest Festival of Martin Luther Lutheran Church is planned for Sunday, Oct. 17 at the Carmine Hall-Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein, 300 N. Hauptstrasse, Carmine, TX 78932. The worship service will be at 9:30 a.m. with country style songs led by the praise team.
There will be a pork steak dinner and a drawing. Meal tickets are $12 per plate. Call the church office at (979) 278-3388 for tickets.
RT-C ISD News
Round Top-Carmine Jr. High A team, JV, and varsity host Fayetteville on Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. JV and varsity play at Burton Sept. 24 at 4:30 p.m.
Jr. High volleyball team will participate in a tournament at Brenham on Sept. 25.

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Meeting Night is Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.

Martin Luther WELCA Meets
The WELCA Unit of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met Sept. 9 with 8 members present – Joys Baird, Carol Carmean, Dianna Gerland, Barbara Jacob, Susan Ray, Leonita Sanders, Sedalia Ullrich, and Diana Wunderlich.
Leonita Sanders opened the meeting with a devotion on spending time with God, based on Luke 5:16.
Leonita Sanders was re-elected to serve as president. Nancy Eilers is secretary and Theresa Garlin serves as treasurer.
There were no nursing home parties or holy communion visits due to COVID.
Quilting continues monthly for LWR. There are some ready for Camp For All. Two quilts were given to the Lutherhill Gala. Krause Children’s Center has closed, per a letter from Upbring, but other places across Texas will continue to serve children. The group might possibly investigate doing something for New Life Children’s Center in Canyon Lake, which serves girls ages 11-17, who are recovering from trauma.
Ingatherings for A.M.E.N. were in May, August, and November.
Currently, we have 65 personal care kits, 10 baby kits, and 22 school kits which need to be assembled and packed for Lutheran World Relief. Thrivent Action Team money was and will be used for backpacks, personal care kits, and quilt batting.
Collection of used postage stamps continues. Leave one-half inch around the stamp when cutting out.
Salad supper was cancelled due to COVID.
For the Thankoffering Service on Nov. 14, Colette is working on the program and will review with Pastor Tinker. As always, ladies will be needed to volunteer for parts in the service.
Mantey Catering has been booked for to-go only plates for the Turkey and Dressing meal. Tickets will be $12 and no desserts this year. Plans are to serve from the Mission and Ministry Building.
Nancy Eilers and Joys Baird will work on the WELCA yearbooks.
Funeral Serving Groups began providing lunch after funerals in June.
Cindy Weidemann is leader of the Lydia Group. Boo Goolsby is in charge of the wall of crosses in the fellowship hall.
The offering collected on Mother’s Day was $49, which was sent to Upbring.
Colette Wunderlich participated virtually as a delegate to the Triennial Convention August 5-8.
The Brazos Cluster meetings and TX LA Gulf Coast Synod WELCA convention were not held.
Thank you notes were read from the families of Garry Sanders and Barbara Menn for serving at those funerals.
The meeting closed and the Rebekah Group meeting followed.
Rebekah Group
The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met Sept. 9 following the Unit General meeting. The same members were present.
Birthday celebrant for August was Cheryl Etzel.
The Bible study was led by Barbara Jacob with the theme “The Gift of the Spirit: A Divine Wild Goose Chase; Session one: Spirit of God, Revealer, and Resource.”
The business meeting was called to order by Susan Ray, president.
A date will be set at the October meeting for assembling Lutheran World Relief kits, if the backpacks for school kits have arrived.
Dianna Gerland gave the Offering Meditation.
The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
Hostesses were Joys Baird and Leonita Sanders.
Carmine Night Out
Carmine Night Out will be held Thursday, Oct. 7 at the fire station beginning at 6 p.m. There will also be a Flag Retirement Ceremony. The RT-C 4-H will participate in the ceremony including leading the pledge.
If anyone has US, Texas, or military flags that need retiring, there is a depository tub inside Village Market.
Local dignitaries will give talks and be available for questions from the public.
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce is supplying free hot dogs, dessert, door prizes, and children’s activities. The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department is supplying the drinks.

Church Council meets Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Confirmation class is Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.
Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m. with the baptism of Marlee Leonhardt.
Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m.
Worship with Holy Communion, observing the 18th Sunday after Pentecost, is at 10 a.m. The service will also be on the website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Men in Mission meet Monday at 7 p.m.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
