Groundwater GM Deploying to Laredo with TX State Guard

Fayette County Groundwater Conservation District General Manager David Van Dresar took a leave of absence from the district to serve a deployment with the Texas State Guard.

Van Dresar told the groundwater district board of directors that he will be deployed to Laredo. At a board meeting last Monday, the district approved the leave of absence without pay. The board also appointed the district’s administrative assistant, Wendi Pyle, as interim general manager during Van Dresar’s leave.

After the meeting last Monday, Van Dresar told the Record that he was not authorized to speak about the State Guard deployment. Last March, Governor Greg Abbott activated state guard troops as part of Operation Lone Star to provide support for the Texas Department of Public Safety along the Texas-Mexico border. – Andy Behlen
