Ginny Sears Running for Flatonia City Council

I, Ginny Sears, have served on Flatonia’s City Council since 2015.

I was born and raised in Flatonia and still hold true to the

values that I was taught as a young child. My father constantly reminded me, “Never forget how you were raised, and where you are from.” I have never forgotten, and I never will. I bring a practical, levelheaded, common sense approach to the diverse issues that continually come before City Council. Issues such as the police and fire departments, city utilities and streets, economic development, parks, and the financial well-being of the City. These are only a few of the challenges that must be addressed today, so that there is a healthy and prosperous Fla tonia in the future.

• I am a member ofFlatonia’s Economic Development Corporation and have been involved in programs that assist local businesses, concurrent with efforts to expand new economic growth in our community.

• I serve on Flatonia’s Park’s Committee, and supported the funding and construction of a splash pad in McWhirter Park.

• I continually vote for funds that update our Police Department’s technology capabilities, officer training, and equipment needs.

• I support Flatonia’s Fire & Rescue organization by voting to increase a City funded pension fund for the volunteers.

• Council has supported an aggressive streets improvement program during my terms in office. We have become more efficient in our abilities to pave streets with the purchase of equipment and our talented City staff.

• I supported infrastructure upgrades, including replacement of old sewer lines before streets are paved, which helps extend the usage and reduce future expenses.

• I am a member of the Rotary Club, Women’s Action Guild, Oak Hill Cemetery Association Endowment Board, and a Director of the Central Texas Rail History Center.

I pledge to work hard and to serve the citizens in a fiscally responsible manner.
