Fried Chicken Dinner Feb. 21 in Carmine
The Carmine Hall is sponsoring a fried chicken dinner next Sunday, Feb. 21. It will be drive-thru only with pick up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tickets are $10 per plate, which includes a half chicken, green beans, and buttered noodles. They are available from any hall member and also in the MLLC church office.
Carmine VFD
Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting is Feb. 25.
The department reminds persons who are planning a controlled burn to please call the Fayette County Sheriff’s office at (979) 968-5856. If you don’t, unneccesary expenses are incurred for the department. Also, stay with the burn to make sure it doesn’t get out of control and don’t burn on a windy day. Tell new neighbors about the policy.
As a reminder, make sure your house numbers are visible from the road at night. Put the number on your front gate, fence post, or on the mailbox.

Round Top-Carmine High School Cub baseball team will have their first game on Feb. 27 in Granger.
Carmine Cemetery Association
The Carmine Cemetery Association will hold their annual meeting on Sunday, Feb. 28 in the MLLC Mission and Ministry Building, following the worship service. It will begin at approximately 11 a.m.
Marriage
Congratulations to Morgan Mikeska and Jacob Daehnke who were united in marriage on Feb. 6 at Olde Dobbin Station in Montgomery, TX. Rev. David Tinker performed the ceremony.
Heritage Committee Meeting
The Heritage Committee of the Carmine Chamber of Commerce will meet March 3 at 10 a.m. in the museum. The topic of discussion will focus on superstitions, signs, and old wives’ tales of the past, some of which remain a part of our culture. All are welcome to attend.
MLLC News
Ash Wednesday worship with Holy Communion is at 7:30 p.m. At Waldeck, the service begins at 5:45 p.m.
Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m. Worship with Holy Communion, observing the First Sunday in Lent, is at 10 a.m. The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Souper Bowl of Caring offerings will be accepted until March 1. The proceeds will be given to the AMEN food pantry in La Grange. If you can’t make it to church, you may send a contribution to the church. The address is PO Box 362, Carmine, TX 78932.
Men in Mission meet Monday at 7 p.m.
Recycling Trailer
The Recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans are accepted. It is very helpful to have the recycled items separated. Attendants are available to help unload.
They kindly ask that you please wait to drop off items when they are open.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
