Before the Freeze, a Hint of Spring

Gary E. McKee of Fayetteville captured this photo of an Indian blanket in bloom on New Year’s Day. An unseasonably warm December apparently confused the wildflower. It didn’t last long, however. “Spring is here, until tomorrow,” McKee said. A strong front blanketed the county with frost the next day.
