Four Locals Arrested for Damage to Golf Course

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that investigators recently arrested four local men for damaging the Frisch Auf! Golf Course back in May.

The arrests followed a weeks-long investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. On May 25, golf course personnel discovered damages caused by vehicles driving on the course’s number 4 green and number 5 fairway. Deputy Ryan Meagher took the initial complaint. The estimated damages were around $15,000.

“Detective Marc Bennett was assigned to investigate this case and diligently spent days following up, checking several home and business cameras and interviewing several individuals and witnesses,” the Sheriff’s report stated.

The investigation led to the discovery of two vehicles suspected of causing the damages, a 2006 Ford Mustang and a 2017 Chevrolet Pickup. Lt. David Beyer of the Sheriff’s Office said Bennett discovered that the episode began at a local bar. He said Bennett learned that the suspects were talking about their plans at the bar before they allegedly left for the golf course.

The case was presented before the Fayette County Grand Jury on June 17. The grand jury indicted four individuals on charges of Criminal Mischief. Warrants were issued and all four individuals were later arrested and booked into the Dan R. Beck Justice Center. The accused are Brandon Hutchison, 20 of La Grange; Blaine McCoy, 24 of La Grange; Patrick Machala, 35 of Plum; and Cody Polasek, 32 of West Point.

Detective Marc Bennett was assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Undercover Narcotics Unit, Sgt. Angela Lala, Detective Kenn Kretz, and Sgt. Ron Naumann.

“Detective Marc Bennett was promoted to the Criminal Investigations Division earlier this year and is already proving to be a great asset to that division of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Korenek said in a press release on Wednesday, July 7.
