Flatonia ISD Participates In Fuel Up To Play 60

For the 2020-2021 school year, Flatonia ISD is participating in the Fuel Up to Play 60 program for the first time at both of their campuses, Flatonia Elementary School (pre-K to 5th grade) and Flatonia Secondary School (6th-12th grade).

Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP 60) is a leading national inschool health and wellness program launched by the National Football League (NFL) and National Dairy Council (NDC), which was founded by America’s dairy farmers, in collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Fuel Up to Play 60’s primary focus is to help schools meet their wellness goals and encourage youth to consume nutrientrich foods (low-fat and fat-free dairy, fruits, vegetables, whole grains lean protein foods, and achieve at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Both Flatonia campuses have already reached Touchdown status with FUTP-60 by completing a nutrition play and physical activity play. “Breakfast For Everyone-First Meal Matters” is the nutrition play and “Walk This Way-Start A Walking Club” is the physical activity play.

Program advisors for Flatonia are Coach Sue Smith, Coach Brandon Williams, and Child Nutrition Director Connie Koopmann.
