Five Generations Celebrated

Recently five generations gathered together, something that has become a rarity in these times of COVID. Nancie Blair traveled to Houston to join her mom and sister along with other family members to get to see the newest baby in the family. They had a wonderful time catching up and admiring the newest member of the family.

Weather

The weather has been a little on the wild side recently. Cooler winds accompanied by a little rain and even some small hail have come through this week. The winds were strong enough to blow down some tree branches and push around anything left outside that was not tied down. Over all we got more wind than rain with amounts adding up to under an inch of rain.

Out And About

Pam Sheffield took a quick trip to Houston last week to see her daughters, Allison Williford and Sarah Holland. They went on a shopping trip to Costco and enjoyed lunch at BJ’s Brewhouse. They shared pizza, salads and fish tacos. Later, Pam visited Allison and Dawson’s house to see the newly painted room they are preparing for their new baby, due in July. That evening Pam was able to visit with her sister and brother-in-law Michele and Richard Vogt. They enjoyed eating Mod Pizza, and according to Pam, you can never get too much pizza.

With more people getting vaccinated it seemed the proper time to start celebrating some family time. Ron and Pam Knotts recently attended a birthday party at the Shiloh Community Center near Halletsville. Honorees were Leroy and Mary Schroeder celebrating his 80th and her 75th birthdays. It was the first community event in more than a year, so it was quite a treat to see family and friends and just catch up on the news. A great barbecue lunch was prepared by the host family with lots of homemade desserts and an ice cream sundae bar. Most folks were happy to be getting together and already planning the next event in the near future.

Dana and Darrell Kulak slipped off over Dana’s spring break to the Dallas area to get Darrell measured for a suit for the upcoming wedding of their son Elton Kulak. They got a chance to visit with Elton and his fiancé Miko Anderson and find out all the details on the wedding plans.

It seems the hogs have come back to the area and are tearing up the fields again. They have become very active and are crossing the roads, so be aware and keep your eyes out for moving black spots. They are large enough to cause lots of damage to your car or truck if hit.

Railroad

The railroad continues to work in the area. There are vehicles parked alongside FM 154, so slow down and be aware of workers in the area.
