Fire Department Responds To a Smoking Ambulance
The La Grange Volunteer Fire Department responded to a smoking ambulance in West Point on Thursday. Thankfully, the ambulance did not catch fire.
Fire Chief Frank Menefee said a Fayette County EMS ambulance pulled over on State Highway 71 near West Point last Thursday after noticing smoke coming from under the hood. La Grange VFD responded and discovered the smoke coming from a belt that was rubbing against the radiator. The ambulance driver turned off the engine before the belt could catch fire, he said.
The ambulance was not transporting a patient at the time, Menefee said. A tow truck brought the ambulance back to La Grange for repairs.
