FBI Investigating Weimar Bank Robbery

A man robbed Hill Bank in Weimar last Tuesday, March 30, and got away with an undisclosed amount of money, according to a press release from Weimar Police Chief Todd Jacobs.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating the robbery, but they haven’t released any information as of last Friday.

Jacob’s report said a black male who looked to be in his 40s or 50s entered the bank around 1:20 p.m. He was carrying a bag. The suspect approached a female teller and told her he was robbing the bank and that the bag contained a bomb. He left the bag and departed the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The report said the suspect drove away in a silver or light grey Buick sedan heading north on FM 155 toward La Grange. The report said no one else was in the vehicle.

Bank employees evacuated the building after the robber left. The FBI and Houston Bomb Squad later arrived and determined the device in the bag to be safe. Initial reports did not say whether the bag contained a real bomb.

Weimar Police Lt. Steven Krhovjak told the Record last Thursday that the FBI was leading the investigation and that no one has yet been arrested.
